Al Michaels will NOT go to jail in his DUI case ... DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES?!?!?

KIDDING!!!!  He was never in any real danger of going to the slammer ('cause it was his first DUI) ... but he did strike a plea deal and will be on probation for the next 24 months.

As we reported, Michaels was popped on April 19th after making an illegal U-turn in front of a DUI checkpoint in L.A. He was subsequently charged with two counts of DUI.

Al just struck a deal with prosecutors -- agreeing to plead no contest to reckless driving -- (a lesser charge) ... he was sentenced to 80 hours of community service and placed on probation.

Now GO OUT THERE AND CALL SOME PRESEASON FOOTBALL GAMES!!!!!!

I don't understand how if you're popped for DUI you can plead to a lesser charge. I've never heard of such a hing. Either you're over the limit or you're not. In NJ there's no such thing. If you're charged it's next to impossible that you can fight & win. It will also cost you thousands of dollars for years. It goes on & on & on. You'd be insane to get a DUI here.

DUI is the worst law on the book, It potentially has the most fatal car injuries and Deaths, but NO DUI CASE Celebrity or otherwise is taken serious by either DA or Judges. You Never see anyone go to jail it takes more than 4 to really send a person to jail. No One Cares about losing there license for a year they still drive anyway.

This is just another clear example how there are 2 justice systems in this country, if it were you or I they would have tossed us in jail and we would still be sitting in jail. When are the people in this country going to wake up and see what is going on? What is going to take for the average tax paying work to finally reach the breaking point. The wealthy are treated very different by the government and by the justice system in every city and state in this country.

In California, a first time DUI is commonly offered a plea deal to what's called a "wet reckless," which is a charge of reckless driving, that will revert back to a DUI charge, if the person is ever arrested for a second or more DUI. Each DUI penalty will increase and a fourth DUI conviction would be a felony, with the person looking at prison time. California has two vehicle code sections for misdemeanor DUI (no injuries involved) , the first is driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol (23152a Vc) and the second is driving with a blood alcohol level of .08% or more (23152b Vc). You can be charged for both sections, if you qualify. You don't need to be rich to be offered a plea to wet reckless, but they won't usually offer it, if your blood alcohol level is sky high. : )
