Stephenie Meyer

'Fifty Shades of Grey' Author

8/10/2013 12:45 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Screw professional courtesy ... "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer says she won't give E.L. James any casting advice for the upcoming "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie .. because she REFUSES TO READ THE BOOK!!!

Meyer was leaving Hemmingway's in Hollywood with some friends last night when she fired the shot ... and it ain't the first time she's taken aim at the S&M-heavy trilogy.

Earlier this year, Meyer told The Guardian "50 Shades" was "too smutty" for her taste -- explaining, "Erotica is not something I read. I don't even read traditional romance."

It's unclear how E.L. feels about the diss -- but we're guessing she'd probably give Stephenie a pair of those ben wa balls and tell her to go (well, you know) herself.

Oh please. Twilight is barely a story and 50 Shades is no better. Twilight portrays women as helpless children needing a male to save us while 50 Shades shames the BDSM community and makes us seem like abusers and controllers. Neither deserve to even be acknowledged as any kind of literary achievement, lightweight or not. They are an embarrassment to the literary community, BDSM community, and to all those who have to deal with that drivel.

I am not impressed with either of these authors. I find it laughable that one feels superior to the other. Both stories are badly written and shame on the both of them for creating one dimensional wimpy female leads...

There may not have been any premarital sex in Twilight, but Bella was trying to jump his bones in every book, so I don't know why you guys are acting like Stephenie is offended because she's all high and mighty and religious (religious lol, I didn't know Jesus was a vampire). I'm not a fan of either Twilight nor 50 Shades of Grey and having read both I can tell you with absolute certainty that they are both terrible reads written by terrible authors and neither are in any position to judge any other author. Just because they have gained so much popularity doesn't mean that they are good. People need to stop associating "recognition" with "talent". Both of these authors are terrible and could never compare to the likes of J.K Rowling, George R.R Martin, J.R.R Tolkien, Stephen King, Suzanne Collins, John Green, etc. And it's not even because one writes about vampires and the other poorly depicts BDSM (really, does she even know what BDSM is like? She should stop watching porn and find a better way to educate herself on this topic before she tries to write about it and then call it a modern romance). I would take Anne Rice and smutty fanfiction over these two authors any day.

What a stupid question to ask she has previously said that her being a Mormon she doesn't read erotic novels. She doesn't mean any harm to James she is just telling that she fonsnt read erotic genre why do they keep asking her the same thing?
