Passive Aggressive Oprah

Gives BS Apology for

Switzerland Racist Flap

8/13/2013 10:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0813_oprah_tmzOprah Winfrey says she's kinda sorta "sorry" for the fallout that ensued after she told the media about a "racist" encounter at a purse store in Switzerland ... saying, "I'm really sorry that it got blown up."

Yeah, right.

Oprah addressed the media at the premiere of "The Butler" in L.A. last night -- backpedaling after the shop in question started to refute O's allegations of racism during an incident last month.

The shop owner says the whole thing was a "misunderstanding" and had "nothing to do with racism."

Last night, Oprah said ... "I think that incident in Switzerland was just an incident in Switzerland. I'm really sorry that it got blown up. I purposefully did not mention the name of the store. I'm sorry that I said it was Switzerland."

Problem is ... O's full of it. What did she think was going to happen when she went on national TV and cried racism? The media was just going to ignore that??

Oprah once ragged on hamburgers and single-handedly CRIPPLED the beef industry. She knew damn well how the media was going to handle the Switzerland situation ... which is why she went to the media in the first place. Her mission was to destroy the shop.

There are some people who are saying Oprah's Swiss encounter wasn't really about race -- Oprah was just mad she wasn't treated like Her Royal O-ness because the shop employee didn't recognize her ... but now, after the employee told the media she's being unfairly attacked, O's feeling a little guilty.

But pretending not to know about the impact of her race allegations?? That's like Obama pretending not to know what's gonna happen if he pushes that big red button in the White House.

C'mon O ... you're smarter than that. And so are we.

She's baaaack

Though she's probably feeling pretty damn smug that it got out there, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. She's insanely wealthy and she's also untrusting of most people so the Big O knows how to take care of herself. The very wealthy breathe rarified air and don't really give two shlts about how the other 99% live.

Then maybe Oprah should stop talking about it. Just because a shop girl wouldn't take a purse off a display shelf for her doesn't mean it was an international racial's called bad customer service. I'm white and had someone not do something I ask in a department store. I shrug it off as a bitchy shop girl with bad customer service. Happens every day. Sorry Princess, you were just treated like us normal hunh?

She accused an Hermes store in Paris of the same thing in about 2005. Sensationalize much, Oprah??

I agree with this article, 100%. Any how Oprah should be used to being treated like a *iggah. Remember the scenario in France.

You can tell who at TMZ wrote this story, someone who really hates Oprah...all she is saying that the media over blown the story, while all she was doing was telling a simple incident that happen. The same TMZ hypocrites surely blow the story up too, like they are doing with this one too!!

There is nothing about Oprah that is BS. This article is so disrespectful I dont know where to begin. Oprah or the Big O as you people are calling her has done more for this Country than any of you will ever see in your lifetimes. She strives to not only be the most noble, truthful, and spiritual person she can be, but she lives to help others seek it as well. She is a modern day Ghandi, Mother Teresa, MLK, and more. We need her and we have all benefited from her glow of love, peace, and well being to all. She has i'm sure made someone in all of your lives a better person. None of you can touch her goodness. Hate to say it because its negative and Oprah taught me better, but some of you are literally not fit to shine her shoes. You presume to say that she timed this for media attention to her movie. So she is larger than life and what she said may have an impact? Wonder how she got to be larger than life? It still does not excuse the shop person and her behavior. But she missed out on a commission so that seems payback enough.

Well Oprah does think she's Jesus.

Here's the thing: She goes into a high end store, the store has goods on display for sale and a prospective customer asks to examine a piece of merchandise. She should have been allowed to examine the merchandise. Did the clerk base her decision not to show the merchandise on the basis that O is black? Probably. Should she have shown the piece to O? Yes. So I agree with O on this one. Nobody (including O) deserves to be treated like that.
