Cory Monteith's Mom

Klugman's Son is Wrong

My Son Deserves This

9/22/2013 9:15 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Cory Monteith's mom thinks Jack Klugman's son has it all wrong -- because Cory could have been the next Jack Klugman had he lived.

Ann McGregor thinks Adam Klugman is being unfair, telling TMZ her son is absolutely worthy of getting a special in memoriam honor at tonight's Emmy Awards ... even though Jack isn't getting one.

Ann tells us she believes you cannot judge worthiness by a person's age because her son was on a path of greatness -- not only with his acting and singing abilities ... but with the charitable work he did.

Ann tells us, "If he had lived 30 more years he would have accomplished much more."

Ann believes Adam Klugman is misdirected ... and thinks its coming from a place of a son who loves and misses his father.

FYI -- Ann isn't going to the Emmys tonight and won't even watch because she says it's too painful.

the only reason they chose Cory, is because of younger viewership, and that's real talk

It should be about the Body of Work and the Klugman family is right Jack Klugman's body of work far surpasses Cory Monteith.

Mom must be on drugs too, or she is just nuts. Shame on the Emmy Awards.

Why do we even care what this wackjob woman thinks? After the way she treated her ex-husband after the death and not even letting him see his son, what this woman thinks is the last thing I give a damn about. She's an absolute disgrace, and what she thinks if right on par with what Osama thought.

He deserves a mention but nothing more than anything else - there are many others being mentioned tonight that deserve a longer mention - and to be honest with the path he was going down with drugs and alcohol, who knows where he really would be in 30 years.

No disrespect intended, but the legend Jack Klugman didn't die from a self induced drug overdose. You don't get inducted into the hall of fame in sports because you had potential.

This is just the Hollywood way now.Reward a drug addict who had been in the business just a short time as legends who have spanned time and generations for years. The Emmys are as real as the pathetic reality shows. The presenters are there to present their liberal political agendas.I won't be watching. I know who the real entertainers are !

don't want to be disrespectful, to mom, but he would never have been as good as jack, because of his addiction. addicts number one goal is to get drugs.

Damn, if coulda, woulda, shoulda was enough for an Emmy honor, they we ALL should get something eventually, right?
But to compare an addict with a very brief TV career to a Great who spent decades and has Emmy wins under his belt is stretch credibility.
I don't know what the Emmy producers were thinking -- unless they're just ghoulishly trading in on Cory's death for ratings --, but to choose a relative Nobody who died of an overdose over a Legend people actually grew up watching, well, that's just weak.
In ten years, it'll be Cory Who?

Jack Klugman-years acting-1948-2012 [65 years].
Cory Monteith-years acting-2005-2013 [8 years].
Jack Klugman was a major player in forging the American entertainment industry for the entire previous generation, and his role in the Odd Couple is entrenched as classic American cinema. Corey Monteith wasn't even ten years in the industry. Jack Klugman was more than six decades in the industry.
I know that Corey's mother wants him to go out with accolades from the industry, but the fact is, your kid was a selfish junkie who let a lot of people down, even though he had all then options, privilege and resources available to him to deal with his life problems, but he took the weak, lazy, selfish route. Not only has Jack Klugman earned the right of recognition for his lifetime body of work, your son couldn't even last on the planet for half of his lifetime, and that is not to be applauded. Jack Klugman is to be applauded.

I understand being upset that Klugman isn't being honored, but no need to be so freaking insensitive and rude about Cory Monteith!

Your son deserves a mention.

The others deserve better.

I don't believe in the individual tributes. If Jack Klugman had a tribute, so should have Larry Hagman. And so should have x. And so should have y. Whomever you think achieved greatness--huge star power--in the industry.

Sorry, I feel very, very bad that Cory Monteith died. But the fact was he was on a TV show and had teen fans and maybe did some charity work--and also was an addict who still was addicted--versus someone who HAD a long career. So while I can understand that his mother thought he was the be-all to end-all, he really had accomplished little (yet) in terms of Hollywood fame, and may never have. Let's save the tributes for mega-stars, or don't have them at all.

The New Improved Sock Puppet

No lady, sorry. Your son might have been exceptionally talented but we'll never really know will we? Unfortunately he got as far as he'd ever get because he couldn't get past that demon. That doesn't mean he wasn't a good kid or a great talent, it just means the demon was going to get him and drag him down. He'd never have gotten far. RIP, but it sucks that two legends had to give their time for a kid in a hit show who overdosed and died.
