U.S. Govt. To Troops

Screw The Shutdown

We'll Let You Watch Football

10/7/2013 9:51 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

U.S. troops just scored a major military victory -- the right to watch NFL games again -- because the top dude at the Pentagon has done an about-face ... TMZ has learned.

We're told ... Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is ordering certain furloughed employees at the Dept. of Defense to return to work ... and that includes the Armed Forces Network -- which had to stop broadcasting games because its staff was furloughed.

As we reported ... during Fox's football coverage yesterday,  Howie Long slammed the government shutdown  ... for curtailing the football broadcasts and damaging service members' morale.

Hagel says Pentagon officials decided they could end furloughs "for employees whose responsibilities contribute to the morale, well-being, capabilities and readiness of service members."

The order is effective immediately -- the AFN is already getting its broadcast operations back up to speed.

Monday Night Football is on, baby.

I know this doesn't seem like much on its face, but Howie Long said it well. If our troops want football on Sundays to have just a bit of home while serving overseas, then LET THEM HAVE FOOTBALL!! It's the LEAST the government can do.

Thank you very much Chuck Hagel.

Yeah but it isnt fair to the other furloughed government employees who's jobs are way more essential than these peoples are... I support our troops but if they're going to furlough one dept. they need to to it for everyone, jmo...

Oh, great, football is back, but federal park rangers are throwing 80 year old couples out of their privately owned Lake Mead homes because the land is federally owned. Really great display of priorities.

This is how they can get everyone back on the job. Find a way for them not working to hurt the morale of the Armed Forces. Pretty tricky. I'm sure there's a way to do that. Maybe some of them are married to people who aren't working. That's hurting the morale of those soldiers. Back to work everyone. Maybe the US would be better off if the workers went back to work and the politicians are furloughed.

Once again Obama is embarrassed on national TV with Howie Long rightfully scolding our government for this...I love it too!

This petty "make it hurt" action of our President hurts the morale of our military...yet Obama's dog walker is still employed as an "essential employee!" He has two daughters that can pick up the poop.

Thanks Howie Long for making Obama understand that it's not all about him!

Never mind the contrivied "Kindness" - we can never do enough for our Servicemen and Servicewoman.

Hagel, Holder, and the entire Fascist and patently Anti-American "administration" of the U.S. Pharaoh, shall face -With, The True and Living Yahweh as My Witness- severe and lasting consequences for their betrayal of the American Citizen and their long dirty-war against the Judeo-Christians. No excuses, no exceptions, NO DEFENSES.

Now the picking and choosing who and what is more important than the other. Everybody has their own opinions, priorities, and causes none of which is superior to somebody elses. So I say, its ALL govt open or NO govt open. Love the troops but football does not, in my opinion, override new patients at NIH.
