'Fast and Furious 7' Director

We Will Finish Making the Movie

12/7/2013 9:29 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

120713_james_wan_launchPaul Walker's death may have put a halt to production on "Fast and Furious 7" ... but last night the movie's director told us there are absolutely no plans to abandon the flick.

A somber James Wan was leaving LAX when he told us how the cast and crew are holding up after Paul's death a week ago ... and assured us 'F&F 7' is still a go.

Wan didn't offer details on how he'll complete the movie, but there would seem to be only two options:

1) Keep the footage they've already shot of Paul, and write out his character, Brian O'Conner.

2) Rewrite the whole thing without Brian O'Conner and shoot the movie from scratch.

Got another idea?  Write it in the comments.

Clearly, any option will require extensive script changes, so ... it remains unclear how long Universal will have to postpone production.

I don't think the movie should be scrapped or re written. Paul worked to hard on the movie and his character. You could tell how hard he worked because he played the roll of Brian O'Conner so well. I say they take the footage they have and complete it as much as possible, then with the remaining scenes they should make a tribute to Paul. They could pull old scenes from the previous Fast movies, put in home videos of Paul onset, at premiers of the previous Fast movies and also interviews. Then have the cast and even crew do interviews talking about Paul. Things he did, said, their favorite memories of Paul. I don't want to see Pauls character written off. Just wouldn't feel right. RIP Paul Walker.

I think they should do what they did for Heath Ledger in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnasis and get some of Paul Walkers closest actor friends to finish his role

What the heck is wrong with all you people saying they should kill O'Conner off in F7 especially in an explosive car wreck?! There is NO WAY that will happen...how disrespectful to Paul his friends family and fans!! I agree they should keep Pauls scenes in the film but find some way to finish it WITHOUT kiliing him in any manner let alone reliving his real life death!!!

I have a idea how fast 7 should end in memory of Paul, I hope you like it...

I think it would be respectful if they wrote his death in and had the funeral in the movie. Like maybe he dies in the middle of the movie. Life lost in a fiery car crash. Vin Diesel tries to get him but the car explodes. Slow motion running and crying. Vin holds Mia back from trying to go near the burning car. There's no time to mourn. They must turn there sadness into anger and get revenge on the people who caused this. They must finish the mission to honor his memory. Action and racing ensues. A short moment where Tyrese is chasing Jason Statham. His car flips and midair there's a flashback to the lunch during Fast 6. Tyrese says a prayer. End flashback. Tyrese awakes to what sounds like Brians voice calling his name. He pulls himself out of the car. Mission accomplished. Final scene: Cemetery. Closed casket funeral. Silent. Each person places a rose on the top of the casket except for Vin Diesel. He walks up to the casket. A flashback of the "you owe me a 10 second car" scene plays. Vin places a set of car keys on top of the casket and walks away. The team is seen walking from the grave site in classic action movie slow motion. A series of brightly colored race cars lines the edge of the lawn. Each member gets in their car and drives off. One car is left sitting there. A flashback shows it is the car Paul Walker is first seen driving in Fast 1. the scene shows the car driving off into a beautiful sunset. The screen fades to black and "In Loving Memory of Paul Walker" Shows on screen.

Go with what they have.and have paul drive his skyline chasing after Jason. paul wrecks and dies. go on with the rest of it at the end. Have a scene where there at his funeral. vin pulls up in the same eclipse paul had in the first one. at the end of the funeral vin puts the keys on his coffin. Flash back to all the good times. last flash back will be I owe you a ten second car. They all walk away get in the cars.but leave the Eclipse there

I vote keep him in it and maybe write him off somehow. It would be nice to see him in this one last movie. Im sure he would appreciate it. Like a final goodbye to him. If that makes sense.

Give it to me.

I studied under Frantisek Daniel.

The greatest script doctor that ever lived.

James Wan knows to keep the footage.

Write Paul out from THAT point in the script.

Use it as a plot point.

Spin it from there.

Make it even better.

I like keeping Paul being killed in a car.

... and the sabotage aspect.

Think it'd work for the film/series.

Sabotage is always interesting.

Bring in Jay Leno to advise.

Leno, more than anyone else.

Will have answers.

How to take it, where to take it, when to take it.

It's an opportunity.
