REO SpeedWagon

We Were Moved by 'Blackfish'

We're Quitting SeaWorld Gig Too

12/13/2013 3:45 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

REO Speedwagon is taking a stand against SeaWorld's alleged abuse of its Orcas -- TMZ has learned the band just pulled out of an upcoming concert there ... following in the footsteps of several other high profile acts.

Sources close to REO Speedwagon tell us their cancellation is directly related to the documentary "Blackfish" ... which exposed alleged killer whale abuse at the aquatic amusement park.

The concert is supposed to go down in February at the Orlando, FL park -- but Cheap Trick, Trisha Yearwood, Willie Nelson, Barenaked Ladies, and Heart had already backed out.

SeaWorld says it expects "other artists will be targeted" by the campaign to organize a protest. They added they're going to book other bands to fill the open slots.

Lets all get a conscience And jump on the free publicity bandwagon! Blackfish is a one sided one opinion do***entary, starting a lot of disgruntled ex-employee of SeaWorld! the animals there would die if they were released back in the wild at this point

There are more than enough red neck families to keep sea world in business. The profits from the men's xxl wif¢ beater tanks covers the cost of food and snack bar condiments. These performers aren't going to miss a few grand and 50% off a seasons pass in 20 fourteen....

Shut it down and turn it over to educated people that know what they are doing so they can return to ocean water and not have to do tricks for food.

Good for them and all the others who refuse this job.

Let the whales go free.

Sea World needs to reconsider its abusive actions towards the Orcas. I defy anyone to not go crazy locked up in a closet in their house; the same way it feels to the whales.

Love the band but this is stupid. The reason there are zoo´s and aquariums, Sea World etc is for people to see and sometimes get to feel different types of animals in the world. If we didn't see them and Only read about them we would be a different kind of world were if you don't see it and learn about it you won't try to save it and make sure these animals still thrive in the wild. Sea World helps and rehabilitates a lot of animals that they put back in the wild. Some are to injured to return and those animals are then well taken care of and they are a chance for us to learn how to not be selfish and to think about how we can make our world a better place for all life. Sea World is just like a museum where you learn about something only not a lot of people like museums and libraries to learn about what's really out there. SEA WORLD makes it interactive gets people of all ages interested in helping animals. Gets children to realize they want to be a marine biologist or a vet. SEA WORLD and Zoo´s are there to teach the public about other species do that those species have hope of being on this planet. All of the band's not performing shame on you. Your not supporting the sea life..without places like SEA WORLD all kinds of species would be extinct.

Seaworld has saved thousands of ocean creatures. This looked bad for them, but I wonder if any of the spokespeople had an axe to grind. Even if there have been mistakes made by Seaworld, who will step in to fill their shoes to recover and rehabilitate the creatures of the seas who need caring for? They have done a lot of good.
