James Holmes

Victims Families Outraged

Apt. On the Market

12/30/2013 12:50 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

1228-james-holmes-aurora-getty Victims of James Holmes' murderous rampage are anguished and angry that the apartment he turned into a death trap is being rented again.

We spoke with a number of families after breaking the story that the apartment -- which Holmes booby trapped with 30 grenades and 10 gallons of gasoline with the intent of killing cops -- is on the market, and they feel victimized again and disrespected.

Bill Hoover -- whose grandson A.J. Boik was gunned down by the Aurora shooter -- says, "The place should be burned down or bulldozed."

The landlord is asking $850 a month, boasting the 650 square foot 1 bedroom/1 bathroom unit is completely renovated and furnished.  There's no mention about the previous tenant.

Hoover adds, "He [Holmes] is the epitome of evil and what went on in that building was horrendous ... I don't think anyone would want to stay there if they knew the evil acts that were done."

A member of another victim's family says, "There needs to be a sign saying a worthless killer lived here."

Still, we gotta ask ...

Ok these people need to relax, their loved ones weren't attacked there, what is the landlord supposed to do not rent the place? Get over it.

That's just silly. The apartment building owner has the right to rent his unit and pay his bills. He did nothing wrong. Be more outraged that the media keeps giving James Holmes publicity he doesn't deserve.

So do they want to come together and pay the landlord? If I was the owner of the building it would have been for rent as soon as possible....lots of people must be born stupid....prisoners are released everyday and move into some neighborhoods without our knowledge...when they commit again shall we bulldoze every single apartment, building, house? No it's life....the owner has a business to's called a job! He or she makes money and is not in business to lose money to anyone because f senseless choices that another person made in life....good day at work for them people out here who actually work and understand.

I'm sorry for their loss, but the landlord had nothing to do with this and shouldn't be vilified and lose income because of this.

If the victim's families would like to compensate the landlord for lost income for the rest of the time the building stands, then by all means...go for it.

Otherwise, they'll need to quiet down and bring attention to the issues that really matter in this tragic case.

"The map is not the territory" - Korzybski. These are probably the same kind of people who keep maintaining those annoying roadside shrines where a person died. They are NOT there! So their 'logic' is to tear down an apartment building and put all the tenants out on the street. idiots.

Did I miss something? Did the families ask for the movie theatre to be bull dozed? This was a tradgic event, but how does this landlord doing his job bring any justic to the victims? Should they bull doze his childhood home next?

I'm sorry, but I don't understand why they're upset? The apartment itself had nothing to do with the shooting at the theater. So the landlord has to be punished for something he didn't do? It's not like he's trying to sell it and make it a museum...he's trying to earn a living. Ridiculous.

If anything should have been burned down it should have been the Movie theatre, But instead the owners tore out the inside and remolded it, and remolded the outside Marque they paid Tribute to the People who died, and to the People who got injured. The Apt was nothing to any Victim Except Police Bomb squad, fire and any other agency involved. Besides the Victims Clearly loved Movies to go to a Midnight show. The Theatre honored them and that was the right thing to do.

James Holmes also Attended the University of Colorado Hospital Ansultz Campus, Why are they not screaming to tear that all down?

Not So Mad Hatter

TMZ, you seriously approached the families and asked for a comment about this? You deliberately chose to create a scandal where there should be none and stir up trouble by objectifying grieving people. Shameful. You are not journalists. You are a gossip site not a legitimate news agency. Stick to trolling celebrities.

What a bunch of idiots! It's just an apartment, they need to get over themselves!

How can they be mad about it? Hes not marketing it as Holmes'former apt. Its a unit in a bldg., you don't let them sit empty. This is misplaced anger, Holmes isn't benefiting from this and the bldg.owner has a right to rent the unit.
