Ex-Sopranos Star

After Burglary Conviction

12/31/2013 7:48 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF
breaking news

Lillo Brancato Jr. -- who starred in "The Sopranos" and "A Bronx Tale" -- has been released from prison on parole ... 8 years after he was involved in the killing of an off-duty NYPD officer.

Brancato was sentenced to 10 years in prison back in 2009 after he was convicted of attempted burglary in a 2005 incident that resulted in the death of Officer Daniel Enchautegui.

Brancato was acquitted of murder, but his co-defendant was found guilty of shooting and killing the officer and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Brancato was considered a rising star in Hollywood before the incident ... playing Calogero Anello in 1993's "A Bronx Tale" and Christopher Moltisanti's mob lackey Matthew Bevilaqua in "The Sopranos."

The 37-year-old actor was released on parole early this morning. So far, he has yet to comment.

Cops are FURIOUS with his release ... in fact, the NYC Patrolmen's Benevolent Association (a police labor union) released a scathing statement saying:

"It is our firm belief that Lillo Brancato is guilty of the murder of police officer Daniel Enchautegui even though he was only convicted of attempted burglary."

"The entire law enforcement community will be watching and the minute he steps out of line, we’ll be sure that he is returned to prison to finish out the rest of his sentence."

Ok, I'm pretty sure those cops just threatened this guy...the state obviously allowed him to go..the nypd have no right to do anything to him...the NYPD is teaching a class on how cops can be corrupt....

He was also in the movie "Crimson Tide". I do hope he gets his life together and not fall into the same nonsense he got jailed for.

thes e cops are so ignorant when things don't go the way they want it. He served his time regardless if they like the outcome or not. I'm not saying i agree with it but it's the laws they have to change. However what what you wish for . The cops families and people that work in the system are always in alot of trouble.

All you people who are saying he, "served his time" are incorrect. He was sentenced to 10 years (which in my opinion wasn't enough) he served 8. He has two more years to serve on parole before he has, "served his time". Sounds like he will be on supervised parole so he will be expected to report to an officer, random drug testing, can't receive any new convictions while on parole etc. If he screws any of that up he would go back before the parole board who will decide whether or not he serves out the retlst of his time in prison.

He Starred in??? According to IMBD, he was in only 6 out of the 86 total episodes. That is harding a "star". Get your sh*t together. Guy is a douche and so in TMZ for calling him a "Star" of the show.
