Beyonce 'Trivialized' Deaths of Challenger Crew

1/1/2014 6:50 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

got off easy with NASA ... rather than saying she blatantly exploited the deaths of the Challenger astronauts, the space agency essentially said she dishonored the memories of the crew.

As you know ... Beyonce's song, "XO" begins with sound from mission control in 1986 ... as they react to the spaceship blowing up and the 7 crew members careening to the ground.

NASA 's response ... "The Challenger accident is an important part of our history; a tragic reminder that space exploration is risky and should never be trivialized."

Beyonce came out with a bizarre, hollow justification ... "The song 'XO' was recorded with the sincerest intention to help heal those who have lost loved ones to remind us that unexpected things happen ..."

It's not exactly that there was suddenly a burning need to help the families cope with the deaths that are almost 2 decades old.

Could it be that Beyonce just knows good drama when she sees it?

Dumb! Was she even old enough to know about this? That's why it makes no sense unless she's lying about her age. Why would she use this example when she was too young to even experience its impact on America? Out of all the examples she could use she chooses this one? Smh sounds like jay z is making the decisions here bc isn't he like 50 already.

If you're going to call out someone, you should not parse their words. Beyonce DID NOT say that she wanted to help the astronauts families heal ... what she said was "The song 'XO' was recorded with the sincerest intention to help heal those who have lost loved ones and to remind us that unexpected things happen, so love and appreciate every minute that you have with those who mean the most to you."

A real-life example of how quickly lives can change ... she could have used 9-11 or Newtown or any number of tragedies but, as you state, this happened nearly 30 years ago and would not be a fresh would as the others would. You're really scraping the barrel to create something out of nothing ... you stir people up and then report their outrage. Go harass a socialite or something.

what about the "eat the cake" line she uses in her song, that's insensitive to Tina Turner COMPLETELY! Beyonce is TACKY

It is almost 3 decades ago math geniuses.

The song/video was not intentionally insensitive, but it was insensitive. It was not a tribute to the crew who perished.
Her teams response was pure spin not written by her.
