Justin Bieber

Cops Claim of

Drag Racing Doesn't Hold Water

1/25/2014 3:10 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

0124-justin-bieber-drivingMiami Beach cops claim Justin Bieber was drag racing at the time of his arrest Thursday ... but the facts seem to show the allegation is MADE UP ... because we've learned they were actually UNDER THE SPEED LIMIT in the middle of the so-called drag race.

According to the police report ... cops spotted Justin and his buddy Khalil drag racing at around 4 AM.

The police report says ... an officer observed the 2 vehicles reaching speeds between 55 and 60 MPH.

Now the problems.

Cops say they noticed the "drag race" on the 2600 block of Pine Tree Drive.  Cops were traveling in the opposite direction so they made a U turn and pursued the cars for 15 blocks.

Mind you ... Justin was driving one of the fastest race cars around -- a Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Spyder.  Khalil was driving a Ferrari 16M.  Cops claim 2 SUVs in Justin's entourage actually blocked off traffic to give the 2 a clear path.

So how could a 15-block drag race in those cars reach speeds of ONLY 60 MPH?

TMZ has learned ... the place where Justin and Khalil rented the cars attached a GPS device that also tracks speed.

The GPS clocked both cars at 27 MPH at the 3500 block of Pine Tree Drive ... smack in the middle of the so-called "drag race."

There's only one time they ever broke 50 MPH and that was long before the pursuit started.  When Justin and Khalil left the club, one car was briefly clocked at 52 MPH and the other 47 MPH. Both drivers slowed down pretty quick and 5 blocks before cops noticed them they were going 34 MPH in a 30 MPH zone.   Blocks later, they were steady at 27 MPH.

So it seems cops goosed the facts to justify the stop.

And that's not the only problem with the police report.  TMZ broke the story ... Justin's blood alcohol level was .014 -- a barely measurable amount.  Yet cops claim Justin reeked of alcohol both at the scene and at the police department.

"Yet cops claim Justin reeked of alcohol.." Reeked? Is that a legal term. or that a word you are using. I'm guessing cops didn't use that term. The fact that he admitted to drinking along with the smoking pot and refused a test on site was enough to bring him in. Oh and the expired license. Let them trow out the DUI and the speeding it doesn't help his case.

They should also bang out the SUV with "daddy" in it for obstructing traffic and possibly the police.

Miami police saved lives by putting a stop to this, plus saving a few really nice cars rented at 4am to the Bieber entourage. Consider this episode as karma for all the times the little twerp gets away with breaking the law.

Police Report said: Cop noticed the "drag race" on the 260......0 block of Pine Tree Drive.

TMZ said: The GPS clocked both cars at 27 MPH at the 3500 block of Pine Tree Drive.

I ask: What did the GPS speed register in the 9 blocks between the 260......0 block & the 3500 block?

TMZ said: Cops pursued the cars for 15 blocks.
Police Report said: The cop stopped the red car at the 4100 block.

I ask: Why did it take the cops 15 blocks to catch up with the 2 cars if the 2 cars were driving less than 30 mph for 15 blocks

Deport the loser--he is becoming a big pain in the ass for law enforcement across the country. We don't need him here. He is a waste.

Hey TMZ, the mob might be on to something. Use your investigative skills to determine LT's (little twerp) legal status / green card, etc. and what happens in case of convictions (felony, etc.) Let him egg Niagra Falls from the Canadian side.

I was charged with drag racing and it was just my (ONE) car. I was 19 and dumb and didn't realize I could fight that charge

Holy ****, TMZ is run by idiots. Where do I begin? 1) A car's GPS is not going to stand up in court. 2) The officer never used the word "reek," you did. 3) You realize Bieber blew the 0.14 at the station AFTER being arrested, meaning his BAC probably went down slightly 4)It's a crime to drive under the influence of marijuana as he admitted to doing.

Cops lie? Of course they do, all the time. I have seen it over and over in court. Everyone is my business knows that they do it.

Politico Pablo

What a surprise.
Cops mistake the facts all the time on their report to justify the stop.
Had he not had GPS tracking to verify his speed, the Cops word would hold up in court.
Since he's not welcomed in the Miami, he should sue the City of Miami for police harassment. I would demand satifaction.

Drag racing isn't defined by speed its the act itself of being side by side or racing to certain can drag race in a wheel chair nobody said had to be fast a cop can pull u over just for spinning a tire .. The most serious chargeis gonna be DUI esp underage

TMZ you are so full of it. The man was charged with DUI, that doesn't happen if his BAC was only 0.014. Honestly, who is going to believe the kid had a BAC that low? So I'm not buying it. You really have to wonder what you're stake is in this whole story.
