Mick Foley

The Royal Rumble Was a Disgrace!!!

1/27/2014 7:11 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley says last night's Royal Rumble was so badly mishandled, it was a slap in the face to wrestling fans ... all because the WWE refused to allow a HUGE superstar to participate.

Foley -- aka Mankind -- went off on social media right after the Pay-Per-View event ... blasting the org. for not including bearded fan-favorite Daniel Bryan in the main 30-man event.

"I've never felt so disgusted at the conclusion of a WWE (or any) PPV," Foley said ... "Like many of you out there, I just don't get it."

The fans at the event were just as pissed off as Foley -- 'cause when it became clear Bryan was participating in the RR, the stadium erupted in "boos" that continued for the rest of the event.

Foley -- who's still under contract with WWE (for another month) -- also tweeted, "Does @WWE actually hate their own audience?"

After the Rumble, Bryan also tweeted ... saying, "Sorry guys, the machine wanted me nowhere near the Royal Rumble match. But I thank everyone for their support."

He added, "They try to keep US down and away from the top spots, but they can’t ignore the reactions forever. Keep voicing your opinions."

As for Mick, he claims he's so upset with the WWE, he's going to throw a brick through his TV to protest.

Stay tuned for that.

This is a "work". Part of the storyline. Foley is a WWE employee. He would not say such a thing.

As much as I don't care about this, I'm just happy it's not a Bieber story.

Less time worrying about the porn-stache bud and more time concentrating on editing bud....

"The fans at the event were just as pissed off as Foley -- 'cause when it became clear Bryan *WASN'T"* participating in the RR, the stadium erupted in "boos" that continued for the rest of the event. "

He's right. This was just a total debacle. Glad I didn't spend $55 on it. The crowd turned on the show halfway through the title match. They let it be known what they wanted, and the corporate *******s didn't listen. If they keep burying Bryan, they're gonna lose a lot of business. Thats not what they want with the launch of the Network less than a month away.

Right now, I'm not a happy shareholder.

Biggest slap was having Cena win it. John Cena winning everything is why I stopped warchingit 7 years ago.

The PPV Sucked! Batista NEEDS A BRA! I understand Bryan not being in it due to his concussion and they want him health, Fine. BUT the Rumble itself was horrible! 1-2 Mystery guest? Punk storyline of being in there since #1 wasn't established well and how can you be eliminated by someone eliminated? Fans booed and chanted boring during CENA/Orton, fans booed Batista. My God if you had bryan come out in rey gear and pull it off at the end it was him that would have been shocking and awesome! You Buried Reigns to you boy Batista. The future of WWE Bleak with Stephanie and HHH in charge. There will be a change for someone to catch the WWE if this keeps up! It isn't 90's or early 2000's anymore hunter! You have future stars that could have been established! Ziggler or Punk should have one! THIS IS JOKE OF A PPV! Make me really reconsidering MANIA. Older stars are to help put over new stars not the buddy system to help their friends.

This years RR was one of the best ever. Foley has no idea what he is talking about.

I doubt WWE thought things would go that way, which means they are becoming out of touch with their fan base. That said, I don't hate the way WWE is "not" pushing Daniel Bryan. DB is the underdog. He always has been and the fans LOVE him for that. If WWE starts pushing him to the top, having him win all of his major matches and main eventing all of the PPVs, it'll begin to feel like WWE is slamming Bryan down our throats and, as we did with John Cena, we'll turn on him. I'm sure Bryan will eventually have his BIG moment, but I don't blame WWE for milking his popularity for all they can get out of it before that happens.

I don't care how many people say how fake or stupid professional wrestling is.. it's an entertainment juggernaut with some of the most vocal, loyal, passionate fans. Lastnight, those fans in Pittsburgh at the Royal Rumble demonstrated just how amazing they can be. I hope the fans in Cleveland show that same kind of love for tonight's episode of RAW.
