Philip Seymour Hoffman

2 Alleged Drug Dealers Targeted in Police Raid

2/5/2014 6:40 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

New York cops have just made 4 ARRESTS in connection with Philip Seymour Hoffman's death … Law enforcement sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ.

Our sources tell us … police have obtained a search warrant and are currently on scene at a NY apt. We're told police are targeting two individuals who they believe sold PSH heroin.  Sources say cops raided 3 units in the same building.

Sources also tell us … someone involved in the heroin market in NYC contacted police and gave them the names and addresses of two alleged drug dealers who pushed the drug.

We're told the heroin user told cops he buys from the same dealer Hoffman frequented and sometimes saw Hoffman in the dealer's apartment.  The informant says Hoffman would buy "bundles" of heroin at a time ... twice a week.

Sources say the informant told cops ... the alleged dealer -- a musician for a famous rapper -- would sometimes run out of his supply and use a secondary dealer, who sold "cheap s**t heroin" that was dangerous.  And the informant says ... Hoffman would get the secondary supply.

Four suspects are now in custody.  Law enforcement tells us all 4 were arrested for drugs found in the apartment units.

10:15 PM PT -- Sources tell us 3 of the suspects are men ... 1 woman -- and officers found nearly 350 glassine baggies filled with heroin.  We're told one of the men -- Robert Vineberg has played sax for Mick Jagger, Amy Winehouse, Wyclef, Tom Jones and David Bowie. He's been charged with felony drug possession.

He was an addict that left his children without a father! Enough said!

a "bundle" means 10 bags (usually sold for the price of 9). it doesn't mean a "huge bunch" in this context.

Curious how that "source" said that the dealers only sold the movie star second-rate dope, while saving the top-shelf for everyone else. Guess that "celebrity" doesn't mean all that much to smack dealers. Seems stupid, since they could charge the celebrity triple - just like the cocaine dealers do to Linds.

Where will I get it now???????

Just me

This is crazy! ALL drug dealers are wrong for their doings. But why is it that they only get arrested when a celebrity dies from an OD. Here in VA there are plenty of regular people who OD yet I'v never seen a news report that their local dope dealer was arrested because the junkie died! WTF! He killed himself! Drugs are bad people. I also believe it is an illness that should not be taken lightly but ultimately in most cases it is your own choice! It only takes one time to get hooked so why even try it once!

Why arrest the drug dealer when 10 more will replace them... Arrest the Government who allows this crap to enter the country... Duh dumb a$$es

Well YES, I actually DO care more about the death of this "Hollywood celeb" than I do about the death of a random person, such as the budding teenage career felon, crackhead abusive mother stealing welfare, or arrogant thug kid. I do not mind at all if the police are using more resources than normal to find the drug dealers that assisted in the death of a fantastically talented and beautiful artist that inspired millions and was a person favored by many. Can you say that about anyone else you know who OD'd? Nope. So stop with your celebrity justice bull. I wish I was a cop so I could inflict pain on whoever helped take this man from the increasingly shallower pool of amazing talent.

I think some of you are missing the main point…Yes, the NYC Police are looking to arrest the drug dealers…not only because it was PSH who died…but because they are selling deadly heroin….saving lives is what the cops are doing!

People OD every day and nobody gets arrested.

Arresting these two guys, throwing them in jail isn't going to change a damned thing. There are plenty more dealers out there waiting to take their places. That's how it works and as long as there are drug addicts there will always be a demand for drugs and dealers who are willing to sell it.

Carrol O'Connor sued his son's drug dealer and it didn't change a thing. Going after drug dealers is a waste of taxpayer money. Addicts want/need the drugs and that makes drugs a demand product and must be supplied and where does the supplier get the product? Ya can't beat the system !!! Drug manufactures, suppliers and dealers and the addict will always win out in the end.

Ooh I wonder if they will release all the celebrity names they may have come across during this raid

Does NYPD go after the drug dealers from every overdose? Of course not...why is this case any different?
