Tom and gisele

SELLING Mega-Estate in L.A.!!!

3/19/2014 6:26 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

This is really shocking ... the incredible European country estate Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen spent 4 years and $40 million building is on the market ... less than a year after it was completed.

Our real estate sources tell us ... the couple wants out of L.A. permanently and will be living full- time in Boston, where they're building another ridiculously big estate -- a 14,300 square-foot house on 5 acres.  The estate is listed for a cool $50 MILLION!!!

As for the L.A. house, Tom and Gisele personally spent a huge amount of time planning the design.  It's an amazing property -- a 14,000 square-foot main house, one of the best home gyms in the world, antiques from everywhere around the globe, an amazing infinity pool, waterfall and pond ... all on 4 prime acres in Brentwood.

There was actually a buzz the New England Patriots QB and his supermodel wife would move to L.A. full-time after he retired,  but clearly that's not the case.

What we can't figure out -- why not have 2, more modest $20 million mansions in both cities.

BTW ... we called Tom and Gisele's brokers -- Kurt Rappaport and Stephen Shapiro -- but our calls weren't returned.

I think it has to do with his first child. When he began the house, he wanted to be close to him and he thought since his mother is an actress and works mostly in LA, they will build a house there but since it looks like she is now a New Yorker, what's the point of moving to the West (even though that could change too). Same as their wedding. Remember they had two weddings...one in LA and the other one is Costa Rica. He thought his first son won't be able to go to Costa Rica so they tied the knot in LA before doing a bigger one in CR. But his mother allowed him to go to CR.

I'd never buy a house in LA. Your neighbors are basically right next to you. No huge lawns to keep a bit of distance unless you own a ranch.

Boston is so boring, and that weather... The mansion looks like it was built with a certain buyer in mind.

Isn't that home on a man-made hill above Arnold & Maria's Brentwood home; the next BIG-ONE and the entire property will be sliding down & burying Arnold's home below...not such a bad thing, but still...

These athletes are so over rated and paid it's ridiculous. There is no way he is worth what he is being paid. It's all about the fame and glory and who can build the biggest and best. They will be divorced before long and she will get half of his money and possessions. Most people that have to have these huge mansions are very unhappy people. He probably has kids all over this Country, so he better save his money.

Five years ago when they started this project, CA was in bad shape but has gotten worse. It will continue on a downward spiral and they have seen the writing on the wall.

The have been warned to dump their lovely property and it is beautiful. CA is going down financially and they have delusional thinking that millionaires will save the state through increased taxation.

The same thing is going on in NY so I see them dumping their condo there too after some time passes to avoid talk of money problems.

MA is tax mega crazy too so why expose yourself to all three taxation hells (MA, NY, MA). Their best states is Florida or Texas for taxes.
