David Cassidy

Ordered Into Rehab After DUI Plea

3/24/2014 3:30 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

03-24-14-david-cassidy-tmzDavid Cassidy's ass just got spanked by the legal system after pleading no contest to DUI -- the judge ordered him to enroll in a 90-day live-in rehab facility for alcohol abuse.

TMZ broke the story ... Cassidy was busted for DUI in L.A. back in January -- his third DUI arrest since 2010.

In addition to rehab, Cassidy was also sentenced to 60 months probation. He must also complete a 9-month alcohol program.

We were previously told Cassidy had enrolled in rehab last month. It's unclear if the judge will give him credit for his previous stint.

Cassidy had originally faced up to a year in jail -- so he should consider this a victory. Even if his wife still wants to divorce him.+

5:07 PM PT -- Cassidy's rep tells TMZ, the singer had already been enrolled in an inpatient rehab facility at the time of his sentencing today and the judge will be giving him credit for the 102 days he's served. We're told Cassidy will be transitioning into a monitored outpatient program (with a sober coach) early next month. The rep says, "David is very committed to his sobriety."

Of course money drives the plea bargains with good attorneys, plus he hasn't hit the felony threshold yet. BUT, in California, but the fourth DUI in the 10 year look back will be the game changer. He's out of chips.

(Celebrity) REHAB. I was the one that told him to hide in rehab before going to court--like the rest of the celebs do.
I called that one--THIRD DUI!!! But we really don't know how many he actually had that were reduced.
Those courts have blood on their hands--allowing dangerous people to go back on the street to eventually kill others---I guess someone in their family have to be killed or pluralized before they take it seriously--or voters get rid of their crocked ass and get folks in the courts who give a fvck.

BTW. TMZ. still covering those judges asses---why don't you tell us his/her name. The public has a right to know.

Not that I think he's rich, but he has enough money to go out & drink,he probably has enough money to call a cab.
He's a uncaring skank.

What a f*cking crock of sh*t the California legal system is. Two laws one for the common people and one for celebrities. After his FIRST DUI conviction, he was automatically on three years probation!

I wish David Cassidy well but the apple doesn't fall far from the tree as they say. Jack (his dad) was a bipolar alcoholic bisexual. He was also good looking, great dimples, a winning smile and talented. Funny thing, genetics. I'm praying for you, David.

I wish him luck
Thankfully he hasn't hurt anyone yet
Hope he turns it around
It's no fun having something dominate and control your life, like addiction

otoh maybe he's just a stupid drunk

Not really an addict, just doesn't know when to quit and makes bad decisions when he does drink

I would never judge a person on an obvious problem they have. I'm not perfect and addiction is hard. What I am judging him on is he reason for driving when he is obviously drunk. I had a drinking problem a few years ago. Maybe 6 or so b it I drank at home and stayed at home. I have a daughter and the idea people are out driving drunk and possibly hurting or killing people is not acceptable to me.

Notice how the repeat offenders are always committed to their sobriety. I do know that any addiction is a struggle , but how many chances can you keep wanting? I always wish everyone well with their personal demons as I wish him well with his but the system doesn't help much by not making them really do mandatory time in rehab longer than 30 - 90days. Especially for repeat offenders.

Multiple offenders are supposed to complete an 18 month program but he only got sentenced to 9? On his third DUI? Hm.

He's hurting inside , very bad and has for a long time! He needs someone to help him soon! He needs love for love's sake.....and to know his self worth not related to this and that but his own value ! He should not be abbandoned at any time but understood when fame and fortune and people, hanger's oners are so fleeting !
