Paul Walker

Family Blindsided

By Sheriff's Death Report

3/26/2014 9:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Paul Walker
's family did not get an advance courtesy call from law enforcement telling them they had determined the cause of Paul Walker's death ... and they're not happy.

Walker family sources tell TMZ, they feel totally betrayed by the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. ... the agency that conducted the probe.

The Sheriff's Dept. held a news conference Tuesday saying speed caused the crash -- not mechanical failure.  The family found out through media reports.

The family says they've been waiting for months, and it's been very difficult preparing for the moment when they learned why Paul died.  They say after such a long, emotional wait, they now feel shortchanged.

One family member learned of the results Tuesday on TV ... when the news ticker at the bottom of the screen unexpectedly rolled through.  The family member says that was simply cold.

We reached out to the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. for comment -- so far, no word back.

The New Improved Sock Puppet

If this story is even true, I'm sure it was a shock, but does the sheriff's office contact the family of every single person who dies accidentally when the cause of the accident was determined. By the way, the cause of death would be in the medical examiner's report, not the sheriff's.

What a bunch of crap, EVERYONE has known speed was the factor from the start not sure why the shock from the family.

Bad form by the Police dept.

The family was waiting because if it was determined it was mechanical failure they would have a fat lawsuit against Porsche.. Thats all they cared about, more money

I do not understand what the issue is here. AS if SPEED was not going to be the cause of the accident??? Let me guess.... Now they want to sue LA County...

Seriously???They were blindsided by the fact the Sheriff figured out that the car was speeding and lost control and hit the tree?? What the heck kind of warning did they need.. "hello.. we are about to state the absolutely obvious reason for why the car crashed and they died" duh.. I say.. shut up and Grieve.. and stop looking for someone to sue.. You vultures!!

Pitiful they were just looking to sue somebody and make a lot of money but it was his own dumb fault and the guy who was driving his car.
