Chupacabra Found in Texas
Leave it to Texas … a family claims they have captured a Chupacabra in their own backyard … forgetting momentarily the creature DOES NOT EXIST.

According to legend, a Chupacabra eats livestock and is known to drink their blood. Local news interviewed the family at their home in a small town in South Texas, and the husband told KABC, "I hunted coons for 20 years with dogs and I ain't never seen nothing looks like that right there."

A wildlife expert guessed the creature was probably some kind of canine suffering from mange, though the creature in the video can be seen eating with its hands ... leading a lot of people to think it's some kind of raccoon.

In a related story, the Tooth Fairy is now interning at TMZ for the summer. She came to the office today on a unicorn and drinks water from the Holy Grail.

It is against the law in Texas to keep a wild animal this, dog has mange and is obviously suffering, animal control needs to do their job.

Laugh all you want, but what the heck is that?!? The so-called wildlife expert called it "some kind of a canine." They call this guy an expert?!? What canine eats with its hands? Yes, hands, not paws, because it appears to have 5 fingers, including thumbs! And the forelegs are far too short in comparison to the back legs to be a canine. If anything, it looks like some sort of marsupial, but what kind, exactly, I will leave to an expert...a real one.

It is a mangy coati, a relative of the raccoon that lives in south Texas, southern New Mexico and southern Arizona and down through much of South America. They are a threatened species in Texas and are protected by law.

Nope, it's not a raccoon, but close. It appears to be a ringtail or "miner's cat", "ringtail cat" is another common name. They live throughout the southwest, and are closely related to raccoons, but longer body, larger ears, and longer tail- which describes this animal very well. They also are more carnivorous than raccoons, which might explain part of the chupacabra legend. They are nocturnal, solitary, and much less often seen than raccoons, also. Mystery solved! This one might have mange, but since the body seems uniformly hairless, it seems more likely to be a mutation of some sort. Like hairless dogs or cats, perhaps? A hairless ringtail!! Which actually makes sense in a hot climate.
