Johnny Manziel

Gunning to Trademark His Name

... For Clothing Line!

4/3/2014 12:55 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0402_johnny_manziel_gettyJohnny Manziel wants to slap his name on everything from shoes to shirts to baby clothing ... at least according to the trademark application he just filed.

TMZ Sports has learned ... Manziel filed docs with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office requesting exclusive rights to various permutations of his name and jersey number (2) -- including "JIIM," "JFF" "JMAN" "JMAN 2" "The House that Johnny Built" and ManzIIel."

According to the application, obtained by TMZ Sports, Manziel wants to use the various logos on athletic shirts, sleepwear, women's athletic tops, shorts, skirts,  gloves and fire-retardant onesies for infants.

Johnny's application is still pending.

Meanwhile, Manziel is still locked in a battle for the rights to the name "Johnny Football" with an investment company that beat Johnny to the punch while JM was rising to stardom.

A decision on that situation is expected to be made soon.

This guy has trouble written all over him, he has not thrown his first pass in the NFL and he is already a star.

This is too much too soon. I hope whoever drafts him doesn't have another Ryan Leaf-type guy on their hands. As ****y as he seems to be, I think there will be a lot of defensive linebackers gunning for him just to "initiate" him onto the NFL. Perhaps even Clowney will knock him down a peg or two.

If I were a GM I would pass on him in the first round. There is just too much hype and it would be a circus. If you take him in the second round he can ride the bench and not be expected to play right away.

The people have spoken on Manziel. 66% of opinions of him on State.com were negative. Most used the words 'moron' '****ed' and 'mediocre'. Pretty accurate sample study of what the public think of him in general. ( http://st8.it/manziel )

OK

He needs to be careful. He could be a complete bust and should worry about playing not clothing lines. He is no Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.
