B.B. King

Sorry I Sucked in STL

I Was Off My Meds!

4/15/2014 9:27 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

040814_bb_king_launch_v2 B.B. King is totally embarrassed by his subpar performance in St. Louis recently -- but his rep tells TMZ, he has a good excuse for sucking ... the blues legend was off his meds.

King's April 4th performance at the Peabody Opera House was meandering and stilted, he chatted with the audience more than he sang, people heckled him, and some even walked out. It was bad.

But a rep for B.B. -- who's 88 years old by the way -- tells us, "Mr. King suffers from diabetes -- and he mistakenly missed a dose of his prescribed medication on the show day."

In addition to his high blood sugar problem, King's rep says the singer was exhausted from a 1,600 mile bus trip from Vegas -- adding, "Simply put, it was a bad night for one of America's living blues legends -- and Mr. King apologizes and humbly asks for the understanding of his fans."

Now here's one of his best performances.

I hope the heartless idiots that think it's acceptable to heckle ANYONE at their job, let alone a living breathing, Legend/senior citizen ... I hope that hatred in you develops into stomache cancer, you sick, cruel freaks. God Bless BB. King.

Sounds like his handlers should let him retire and stop working him to death. I bet a lot of people depend on his performances to make their cash.. Greedy people are killing this guitar legend..

Man I thought this headline said he was sucked off in St. Louis at first.

You'd have to one heck of an a**hole to heckle an 88yr old.

Legend smedgeon
I paid good money to see him many times until a few years ago. His opener his back up band played, he interject a lick or two as the music played on. Always sitting in his chair. Never really heard him actually play a song, let alone a selection of music from start to finish; the whole enchilada as they say

BB King isn't long in the tooth. He's lost all his teeth,ie he's in only for the cash and pissing on his name in the process.

So his excuse for St Louis is consistent with his past performances of the last 10 years as a minimum

Thanks for putting up the video from back in the day. There's a reason the guy's a legend. Hopefully he is going out touring because he wants to and not because he has to or someone's forcing his hand. If it's the former, there are dozens of successful rock performers who owe at least a portion of that success to licks and stylings they lifted from him and other, older blues artists. Wouldn't hurt them to help him out if he needs it.

I've seen him 4 times and he was great. Just an off night.

That's the price you pay to see one-time legends. If you wanted to see Sinatra reading the lyrics off a screen and forgetting his act int his last years, or Liza Minnelli who now dances onstage in a director's chair, that's great. But you don't grouse that they're not like they were in their heyday.

Damn, those morons need to give him a break. He's 88 years old.
