UCLA to Sterling

We Don't Want Your Money!

4/29/2014 3:00 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

UCLA is saying thanks but no thanks to Donald Sterling's $3 million pledge ... saying essentially its dirty money and they don't want it.

Sterling gifted $3 mil to the school, with an initial check for $425,000.  The money was earmarked for kidney research.

A UCLA spokesperson says, "Mr. Sterling's divisive and hurtful comments demonstrate that he does not share UCLA's core values as a public university that fosters diversity, inclusion and respect."

And get this.  The ad (above) that was placed in Sunday's L.A. Times is a "thank you" from UCLA to Donald and Shelly Sterling.  UCLA claims the ad was placed by Donald Sterling, NOT the university.
We just got off the  phone with a rep for the L.A.'s Simon Wiesenthal Center's Museum of Tolerance, who says they got $30K from Sterling over the last 3 years ... and they're keeping it -- because the money's already been spent on programs to help fight racism.  But ... they won't accept any money in the future.

I have kidney disease, and I'd rather die before using Sterling's money...

I'd keep the money. Think of the good that the money will do to help people. Just because he said what he said, doesn't mean that there cannot be something good that comes out of the donation of money. It doesn't have anything to do with the situation. I doubt they get that kind of money everyday. Why not use it to help others. Really!!

This whole situation is a joke. His privacy wad invaded and is illegal to tape someone without their knowledge. If they are going to be so harsh on him they better be on the players maybe I will have to tape them when I am out in the clubs in AZ

That's BS, If the money could actually help someone, take it. Isn't it better it go to UCLA than into the bank account of a tranny hooker?

What the hell someone out there is going to die because the kidney research couldn't help him in time. The mans comments were bad, not his money.

He's banned for life ? 1- he's 80 yrs old so that won't be long . 2- He may very well commit suicide before the end of this week, that won't be long either... I don't trust his family as well...

The man may be a racist piece of shi.t but his money can still help people. I wouldnt give him any creditor recognition of any sort but i'd still take his money. Thats a lot of cash

Well that's just plain stupid! Money is money and it could do a lot of good! Keep the money, lose the plaque.

UCLA does not need his money, they make $3 Mil. in a day off of tuition.

Racism has been a part of the world for as long as there have been "us" and "them". Turning down the man's donation won't end racism. It won't add much to the discussion about racism, either.

But $3 million will do a lot towards furthering research into kidney disease and discovering treatments that would help both blacks and whites.

Hopefully they will recoup the money from some other wealthy person who has not been caught publicly making racially discriminatory statements . And how narcissistic of him to place that self-congratulatory ad.
