UCLA to Sterling

We Don't Want Your Money!

4/29/2014 3:00 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

UCLA is saying thanks but no thanks to Donald Sterling's $3 million pledge ... saying essentially its dirty money and they don't want it.

Sterling gifted $3 mil to the school, with an initial check for $425,000.  The money was earmarked for kidney research.

A UCLA spokesperson says, "Mr. Sterling's divisive and hurtful comments demonstrate that he does not share UCLA's core values as a public university that fosters diversity, inclusion and respect."

And get this.  The ad (above) that was placed in Sunday's L.A. Times is a "thank you" from UCLA to Donald and Shelly Sterling.  UCLA claims the ad was placed by Donald Sterling, NOT the university.

We just got off the  phone with a rep for the L.A.'s Simon Wiesenthal Center's Museum of Tolerance, who says they got $30K from Sterling over the last 3 years ... and they're keeping it -- because the money's already been spent on programs to help fight racism.  But ... they won't accept any money in the future.

What a bunch of idiots. It isn't dirty money & it makes no sense to turn down the money. It is like they want a pat on the back for not accepting money. That 3 million could have helped ALOT of people. I think turning it down is a disgrace. Many people have kidney issues & these idiots turn down 3 million to help research it. Nice fking job you morons. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. I don't agree with what he said, but Mark Cuban was right. Punishing someone for what they say in the privacy of their own home is a slippery slope. Everyone loves freedom of speech , until someone says something they don't like.

This whole issue has blown up out of proportion. He can be with anyone he wants to as we all can. Kidney research is for everyone and black people are affected by kidney disease more than white people. So, UCLA, get off your high horse.

Its absolutely hilarious watching people trying to clean this up with ill knowledge of the first amendment, zero knowledge of how the NBA works, fictional political facts, and pointing the finger all over but at the guy who dug his own grave.

Who cares what the guy said? He's got a right to say it, he didn't kill anyone and he didn't commit any crime. He can say whatever he wants, we don't have to agree with it. Now people want him to lose a lifetime's worth of work and money because of some words he said?

There are no spoken words that should cost a man that much...

I get where UCLA is coming from - but come on! Turning away $3,000,000.00 for research??? Either UCLA has extremely deep pockets or they're being foolish.

Is that right

They probably don't want to keep it because then they'd have to name the lab after him.

I'm sure everyone dying of kidney problems will be so glad that they won't have their life saved by a someone who may or may not be racist.

Really, what is wrong with UCLA? They are putting their personal grudges above the lives of human beings. That's disgusting.

The Truth

UCLA sucks anyways, but this is stupid. As far as we know he has made his money legally and hasn't been committed of any crime other than being old and having old views. Sorry but old Jews not liking minorities isn't new. If he wants to donate money for kidney research he should be allowed. Kidney disease don't know color. UCLA sucks..

Well snoop kitty, I understand you do not appreciate what the LA Clippers owner said about African Americans, I agree with your hate for him! What I do not agree with is your hypocritical racism in your response, you called him a redneck and white bread, to this snoopy I say **** YOU and the impala with spinners you rode in on, you are a s*** bag and have really never been anything more than a racist yourself. There seems to be a double standard here, Redneck/white bread/cracker are OK to call white folks but saying anything about another race other than white is racist. I am not a racist but I don't play two sided games and you should watch what you say and the hate you create, just a heads up. Your nothing more than a skinny crackhead who shows kids to smoke drugs and being a wannabe gangster is how to live. Call me some racist **** and I would slap you to the ground like Tupac use to. I won't be playing your music, watching your interviews, or paying any attention to anything you do, so long poop dogg.
