Ben Affleck

Booted from Hard Rock for Counting Cards

5/2/2014 2:50 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Ben Affleck Kicked Out Hard Rock Casino
Ben Affleck
's blackjack days are over ... at least at the Hard Rock in Vegas -- because he was just banned FOR LIFE from playing the game at the casino ... after security says they caught him counting cards.

Affleck was in Sin City earlier this week with wife Jennifer Garner. We're told he planned the Vegas trip as a romantic getaway before he ships off to Detroit for several months to shoot his new Batman movie.

But things took an unromantic turn Tuesday night -- Hard Rock casino sources tell us, Affleck was playing blackjack at a high rollers' table when security swarmed.

According to sources, security informed Affleck he had been deemed an "advantaged player" and was no longer allowed to play blackjack at the Hard Rock. We're told security had spotted Affleck counting cards ... a gambling strategy that involves counting card values to decrease betting risk.

Counting cards isn't technically illegal, but it can get you kicked out of a casino -- which is exactly what happened to Affleck. We're told security arranged for a car service to take him back to his hotel.

FYI, Affleck is a well-known card shark -- back in 2001, he reportedly amassed $800,000 in blackjack winnings (at the Hard Rock no less) by playing three $20,000 blackjack hands at once.

I don't know where you got this story. It appears a plant to me with the pics. I dont for a second think that Affleck counts a 7 deck alone. Get a clue................

More likely he got kicked out because he took this same casino for a cool $800,000 and the mobsters don't like losing that kind of money. Just a made up excuse.

Bare feet in mcdonalds isn't illegal but if they want to tell you to leave because of it, that's their right. Counting cards is the same thing. Vegas has been doing this for decades, Afleck ain't getting special mistreatment. Find a new hobby, Dude.

1 for bad. 2 for good.

I don't think so. I think H. Rock was a little miffed by Affleck's earlier winnings and was determined to keep it from happening again regardless of what they had to do to make it happen.

It takes a smart person to count cards. Guess the Hard Rock likes stupid.

Ben Affleck and his wife are Hollywood A listers. Why would he want to do something so silly unless there is an addiction issue.

I believe the casino should have to prove the player is counting. Otherwise just close the table for the night.

Card counting isn't cheating. Casinos should not be allowed to throw out customers who are just following the rules of the game.

let's get something straight. card counting is NOT ILLEGAL. the only "game" in any gambling establishment that provides even a modi*** of advantage to the player is blackjack. the rest is (are) random chance games. and even if you are a really good blackjack player (which means in English, paying attention to the cards already played) there is still a risk. The big theme of vegas and other gambling cities is the story of "poor losers." Well, in this case, it's the casino that is the "poor loser." I'm not a big Affleck fan, for his acting. but, he's a good blackjack player, and you don't have to count cards to know that on a two deck game, if the face cards are played out, and the aces are gone, you lower your bet, if you want to keep playing. The Hard Rock is populated by sissies, I haven't played there in years (and I've lived in Vegas for 28 years.)

Card counting isn't cheating. It's frowned upon like masturbating on an airplane. Thanks a lot Bin Laden
