Donald Sterling

Lawyering Up to Sue NBA

5/5/2014 8:18 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

Donald Sterling Suing NBA
Donald Sterling is on the hunt to hire a major L.A. law firm to sue the NBA for suspending him and attempting to strip him of ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Sources familiar with the situation tell us ... Sterling's people were in touch with several law firms last week, including the powerhouse firm Glaser Weil Patty Glaser is one of the top litigators in the country and has repped scores of celebs, including Conan O'Brien and Keith Olbermann.

And this is ironic ... Paula Deen hired Glaser to defend her in the Uncle Bubba's Seafood and Oyster House case ... where Deen admitted during a deposition she used the N word, FYI, Deen's admission occurred long before Glaser took the case.

We've also learned Sterling's people have been in touch with the mega-law firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart and Sullivan, a 650-member law firm specializing in business litigation.

Our sources made it clear ... Sterling will not go down without a fight.

This set up/rigged series is great. The greatest sports storyline in a long time. The underdog, majority black team faces adversity due to the elderly, rich team owner's racist views and adulterous lifestyle, goes on to win the nba championship with golden boy Chris Paul in the forefront. The owner's wife and family are caught up in the scandal, first outraged by the betrayal of the monarch of their family, must come together to support the team and learn to forgive their monarch, while fighting public/ media shaming. This will make soooo much money. Donald Sterling was right, it's bigger than him. He will still own the team as even more money piles in. He is damn near 80, so he will end up giving up the team without actually giving it up. He can relax, enjoy the splurge of even more millions than he would get if he continued to own without scandal and really retire. Vendetta S. (mistress) get payed in full for her help in getting the public to believe the whole scandal. Which explains why she still lives in his home, drives the car he bought, and Donald was willing to consider an interview with Barbara Walters with her. Remember Vendetta S. has been quoted as saying she knows what she is doing. The nba gets their remember the Titans 2014 moment. The end. If the Clippers win, I will have no doubt sports, including the nba is fixed. This is the only thing that makes sense in this whole ridiculous sideshow.

I hope he wins. Not because I think what he said was right, but because he didn't try to hurt the NBA. I think what he said was a disgrace, but we have freedom of speech & definitely should not have to worry about what we say in our own homes. Who has not said things they didn't regret in their homes. What he said was in the privacy of his own home. Like Mark Cuban said, it is a slippery slope punishing people for what they say in the privacy of their own home. The NBA let public pressure ban him for life. They were worried about losing money & that is it. The McCarthy hearings went after anyone they thought was a communist & ruined careers. They banned him & had the nerve to fine him & tell him to sell or try to force him to sell. Unfortunately, it must not be illegal to do what she did. If it was the cops should have put that POS in jail. Then she says he wasn't a racist, but still leaked the audio & why? His family realized what a gold digger she was & they were going to put an end to it. I personally hope he hits several law firms & files so many motions & paperwork that the NBA is in litigation for years. It will make it so expensive. They will lose 50x his fines.

He's going to lose. No advertisements, the players throughout the league will not play for or against his teams and attendance will suffer and no one will coach the team. Good luck with that Sterling.

We've seen this before with TMZ and the media demonizing the woman and making the public feel sympathy for the old racist pervert. They did it with Strauss Khan and the black maid just going her job and was attacked and r@ped. TMZ and the media got Khan off and a year later he quietly settled the case. I don't have sympathy for Sterling. I have sympathy for the blacks in Israel that Sterling says are treated like dogs. They sterilize the Jewish black Ethiopian women in Israel.

The NBA can't take his property away from him, you idiots. They can vote the team out of the league, that's it. That won't happen.

Joke on us. If he is forced to sell, it's a 800mil profit TAX FREE! Loop hole in the law... If you are forced to sell, you do not pay taxes on it. Not only will he cash out on the clippers, he will likely get a pay day from the NBA after this lawsuit

I think he should sue because the NBA is really screwing him over. Because of something he said during a private phone call with his girlfriend, the NBA is banning him for life, fining him $2.5 million dollars, and is trying to force him to sell his team. Does that seem fair to you? It doesn't seem fair to me.

The things this man said are vile but I agree he should fight the forced sale. No person should be forced to sell anything they own on the basis of disgusting views they spouted in the privacy of their own home. The other disgusting part of this is now that gold digging hoochie is gonna be famous.
