Donald Sterling

Lawyering Up to Sue NBA

5/5/2014 8:18 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

Donald Sterling Suing NBA
Donald Sterling is on the hunt to hire a major L.A. law firm to sue the NBA for suspending him and attempting to strip him of ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Sources familiar with the situation tell us ... Sterling's people were in touch with several law firms last week, including the powerhouse firm Glaser Weil Patty Glaser is one of the top litigators in the country and has repped scores of celebs, including Conan O'Brien and Keith Olbermann.

And this is ironic ... Paula Deen hired Glaser to defend her in the Uncle Bubba's Seafood and Oyster House case ... where Deen admitted during a deposition she used the N word, FYI, Deen's admission occurred long before Glaser took the case.

We've also learned Sterling's people have been in touch with the mega-law firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart and Sullivan, a 650-member law firm specializing in business litigation.

Our sources made it clear ... Sterling will not go down without a fight.

Here's a question... Lets say he fights it. During the epic battle he dies. The team is willed to his kids. Do the NBC still demand a sale of the team? Do we punish his children who did nothing wrong?

Give them hell Donald and don't stop until racist black people are treated the same way as racist white folks. You've done a lot of good for people of color and they forgot about that when they got caught up in that ridiculous fervor they always fall into when someone says something that they blow out of proportion and context.

I'm black and as far as I'm concerned you are allowed to not like whoever the hell you want whether it be cause they're black, white, or orange. Abusing your power to try to change how someone feels is a whole nother ignorance in itself. in the long run he still needed black people and he used them and they got paid damn good from it. Idc about his crap anymore let's all just move on let him be. Start a new clipper "like" team and leave him be with his old one. Whoever stays, stay. And whoever leaves, leave. End of story. The real question is.... "But did he kill someone.. Did anybody die??? "

Again, I'm black and I don't blame it. I don't agree with his opinions but I don't have to. It's called FREEDOM. Unless his views break violate policies, regulations or laws, leave him to it. #Fight

The media trying to appease black people is only temporary! It's all about money! Sterling only used the word "them" on a private conversation. There is so much on the line in terms of precedent that it's not funny!Owners of other teams will fear for their own rights, the public will fear for their right to privacy on telephone conversations, and lastly the NBA will fear because of the long and drawn out press coverage they will be given..I predict Sterling will not end his litigation with just the NBA. Bad publicity and inappropriate punishment by an over zealous, new commissioner (Silver) will possibly cost him his job!
In the end, Sterling or at least his heirs will prevail!!

There is no way Quinn Emanuel or any other major firm takes Sterling's case. They all do not like Sterling and would fear the backlash from taking his business. Sterling will have to be represented by a smaller law firm (like Glasier's ) where the $$$ from Sterling's case outweighs the loss of clients that will result from representing Sterling against the NBA..

And he is going to win too. What the NBA did was stupid.

He's going to lose. No advertisements, the players throughout the league will not play for or against his teams and attendance will suffer and no one will coach the team. Good luck with that Sterling.

We've seen this before with TMZ and the media demonizing the woman and making the public feel sympathy for the old racist pervert. They did it with Strauss Khan and the black maid just going her job and was attacked and r@ped. TMZ and the media got Khan off and a year later he quietly settled the case. I don't have sympathy for Sterling. I have sympathy for the blacks in Israel that Sterling says are treated like dogs. They sterilize the Jewish black Ethiopian women in Israel.
