Whitney Houston's Family

She Deserves More

Than a TV Movie!

5/26/2014 1:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

Whitney Houston Lifetime MovieWhitney Houston's family is PISSED that Lifetime is making a movie about her life ... because they feel Whitney is too big for the small screen.

Lifetime made the announcement earlier this week ... they're planning on a biopic for 2015, with Angela Bassett making her directorial debut.

According to our sources, the Houston estate is so upset they're considering a lawsuit to block production. We're told the family has already expressed displeasure to Lifetime and made it clear they weren't on board with a TV movie.

Sources close to the Houston family tell us the estate is planning its own movie for the big screen -- ala the "This is It'" Michael Jackson flick.

Pat Houston, wouldn't get specific with us but did say, "Whitney is certainly worthy of more than a television movie. If Whitney were here today, this would not be happening."

Lifetime had no comment.

"If Whitney were here today, this would not be happening."

But Whitney isn't here, is she? If she had not lived two different lifestyles: the superstar golden voice diva, VS the drug addicted loser, maybe her legacy could have warranted a big screen movie. But her life choices kind of ruined that didn't they?

Whatever dude! She's just another Hollywood star who became successful did drugs and died. Just like The Anna Nicole story on lifetime. That's one of lifetimes best movies ever. Whitney's family just wants to get a cut of big screen profits. So greedy. They didn't care enough to try and help her when she was alive ? Why do they care about her now??

Biopics Are all TV movies. Liz taylor and TLC were tv movies. Even the Jackson 5 movie was a tv movie and that movie was made at the height of MJ's career.

A tv movie is fitting. Although i'd admit. I would be interested to watch a whack is crack portrayal of whitney.

Whitney was a low life drug addict. She was blessed with a great voice, but still, she acted like any brainless child and preferred to take drugs instead of living a great life with what god gave her. She loved drugs more than her self and her child. My mother did the same thing, so I have no love for her. I've struggled all my life to succeed. The only difference is my mother was on welfare and my sisters and I went to numerous foster homes. Out of 12 kids, I'm the only one that doesn't have mental or financial problems. Whitney's child will have mental issues, but at least she was left with a lot of money. Unfortunately, Whitney's child already is doing things that are self destructive. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. It seems that Whitney's daughter, even with all her money, is going the same direction as her mother Whitney.

I see nothing wrong with what angela wants to do, the estate can still make there movie, the estate seem to have a lot of negative energy.its gonna pull folks away from everything they do.angela has worked with lifetime before let our sister do her thing.not sure whitney would disapprove.no one can speak for her shes no longer with us but we still love her and mis her.it appears the estate is a bunch of money suckers whom need to get a job.whitneys been supporting them her entire life.now give whit a break at death.and allow this project to go on, its being done from a co workers point if view.

Just how famous was Whitney? She gets a little over 4 stars on a certain site. Exactly as much as someone like Andre the Giant has. I have never seen a movie about him on the big screen. I don't understand why Whitney would deserve a movie on the big screen?

I don't blame them. Lifetime is pretty notorious for sucking at biopics. And they're using an inexperienced director to boot. But I don't want to see a This Is It type movie either. We already saw Whitney falling apart the last week of her life while it was happening.

Whitney's movie would not be a box office hit. It would flop on the big screen. She spent more years being on video as a drug addict than her years as a singer and actor. Her life was already put out there to witness on a reality show and it was not very pretty as her many years being captured on video being messed up. This does not make for a good movie.
