Jeremy Meeks

I'M TOO SEXY FOR SHACKLES

Begs Judge for Designer Court Clothes

6/27/2014 9:35 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

Jeremy Meeks might be taking this "I'm a model" thing a little too seriously ... he now wants the judge to greenlight custom-fitted clothing for court ... seriously.

In new docs, filed by attorney Tai Bogan, Meeks requests, "that measures be taken so he may wear civilian clothing that is fitting for his body structure."

Apparently, dude thinks he's built like Tyson Beckford.

Clearly, Meeks thinks powerful fashion people may be watching ...  and god forbid he looks like a schlub.

He also wants the judge to let him take off the shackles in court -- "shackles can interfere with Mr. Meeks' ability to communicate with his lawyer."

Law nerd

It is routine for defendants in criminal cases to request both that they be allowed to wear street clothes during appearances and to be unshackled while making that appearance whether for bail hearings, status appearances, trials settings, or trial. Having served as defendant's counsel in many criminal matters (sometimes they're really not guilty, in case you're wondering) and never has judge refused these requests. Harvey Levin, a lawyer himself, should, and probably does, know this. Your post was not fair to readers who aren't familiar with courtroom procedures and was bordering on libelous as well.

He has an attorney and a talent agent. When does the family pull the plug on the gofundme campaign and return peoples donations?

Having served as a juror, the defendant wore a suit and was unshackled each day of the trial. Isn't his request normal? Don't particularly care for the guy but why is TMZ giving readers the perception he is requesting special treatment when he is not.

He didn't ask for custom clothing. He just wants to get out of those jail clothes for court. It is a fact he will be viewed more harshly is prison attire than he will in a suit. But who cares about the suit angle? Jeremy has a real lawyer!!!! Yay!!!!!
