It turns out Christian Bale's expletive-filled, volcanic explosion on the set of "Terminator Salvation" was a "non-event"... according to a guy who wasn't the brunt of Bale's tirade.
Bruce Franklin -- assistant director and associate producer on the film -- told us "Christian is a method actor and was completely immersed in his scene ... his reaction was from the heat of the moment."
The target of Bale's attack -- a director of photography named Shane Hurlbut -- was not fired from the movie, despite Christian's threat that if Shane screwed up one more time, he should be kicked to the curb.
Franklin said Bale was under a lot of pressure because of his crazy "Dark Knight" promotion schedule, and that the crew -- Hurlbut included -- ended up shooting for another seven hours.

WARNING: THIS AUDIO CONTAINS GRAPHIC LANGUAGE
You may remember that Christian Bale went nuts on the set of "Terminator Salvation" a few months back, threatening to stop production and beat some serious ass.

The incident was audiotaped, and it's amazing. It happened on the set after a director of photography accidentally ruined a scene by walking onto the set. Bale lost it, screaming, yelling and threatening to quit if the bosses didn't fire the dude.
Film execs sent the tape to the insurance company that insured the film in case Bale bailed.

Not every Batman is a raging, angry lunatic -- in fact, the caped crusader who launched the movie franchise, Michael Keaton, was the coolest cat ever when almost every person at the Tampa airport approached him for a picture.

FYI -- Here's the list: Wilson, Lowery, West, Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney, Bale

Seems everyone in the world has seen "The Dark Knight" –- everyone except about a billion Chinese folks.
That's because "DK" hasn't been released by Warner Bros. in mainland China, reports the Huffington Post, because of "prerelease conditions" and "cultural sensitivities." There's a scene that takes place in Hong Kong where Batman corrals a gangster, and another involving a famous actor who got caught up in a sex-pic scandal, and those scenes may have worried the studio.
Of course, as HuffPost points out, bootlegs have been available for months in China.

One autograph hunter needed a Bale-out last night -- when he got in the Dark Knight's way. You never mess with the Batman when his wife is waiting...

Batman and Mr. Freeze. John Connor and The Terminator.

Arnold Schwarzenegger hit Brentwood yesterday to have lunch with Christian Bale -- the guy who keeps taking over the movie franchises he starred in first. No word if Christian ordered his own meal ... or just finished off whatever Arnold had.

Looks like Batman's mom was robbin', because the case against Christian Bale is over.
Bale will not be charged in the alleged assault against his mother at a London hotel last month.
We told you days after Bale was busted that it looked like a shakedown for $$$. Looks like the Brits felt the same way.

So you're the star of one of the biggest movies ever. It's pulling in hundreds of millions of dollars. And you fly from the Tokyo premiere back home to LAX -- COMMERCIAL!
Not only did Bale fly with the commoners, he had to push his own luggage cart with an incredibly heavy trunk, forcing him to move at a snail's pace, rendering him helpless in front of the pappers.
Oh the humanity.

No Freudian slip for Christian Bale this morning.
He was in Barcelona this morning shilling for "The Dark Knight," and when asked about Mummygate and ... we got nothin'. He'd only say the incident was a "deeply personal matter."
As we reported yesterday, Bale has been estranged from his mom for decades and his peeps smell $hakedown.

We're told he signed autographs... but didn't answer any reporter questions. Of course he didn't.

Sources tell TMZ Christian Bale has had a long-standing difficult relationship with his mom and Bale's camp believes the motivation for the whole assault charge may be $$$.
We're told when Christian's mom and dad divorced nearly two decades ago, his mom forced him to choose between the two. Christian picked his dad, and father and son moved out to L.A. in 1992, where his dad became his manager.
Somehow Bale's relationship with the mom has been "bitter" ever since. Bale has told friends his mother was extremely jealous of both his and his dad's success.
Last Sunday, Bale let his mom and sis into his hotel suite, though it was by no means an olive branch. As we first reported, there was physical contact, but somewhere in between a push and a brush. No one fell and no one was hurt.
Christian's camp thinks this could be nothing more than a shakedown. We're told some newspapers and mags have already been throwing around "insane" amounts of money for the story, so mom and sis could score big.
But our sources say the cops are starting to see the whole thing Christian's way, and the charges could disappear faster than Batman.
