Sugar Ray Leonard Advice for McGregor: 'Duck!'

6/20/2017 6:24 AM PDT

"Sugar" Ray Leonard thinks Conor McGregor is a very tough dude -- but when it comes to his fight with Floyd Mayweather he has one piece of advice ... "DUCK!"

The boxing legend -- who beat Floyd's dad in 1978 -- was at LAX when he told us why he believes the Irish superstar is in for a beating when they face off on August 26.

Leonard says he's impressed by the paychecks both fighters will pull in -- but he'll be even more impressed if Conor can go the distance with The Best Ever.

Ice Cube Shades Mayweather vs. McGregor 'That Still Happening?'

6/20/2017 6:10 AM PDT

Here's some nice, cool SHAAADE ... courtesy of Ice Cube

As we previously reported, Cube's BIG3 basketball league is in a standoff with Mayweather, McGregor over the T-Mobile Arena for August 26.

BIG3 says it booked the venue first and won't budge (unless the price is right) -- while the boxing promoters aren't backing down either.

So, we asked Cube about the big fight when we saw him at LAX on Monday -- his response?

"Oh, that fight is uh happening?"

Andre Ward Kovalev's A Racist And I'm Gonna Kick His Ass For It

6/17/2017 12:35 AM PDT

Andre Ward says Sergey Kovalev needs to be punished for his racist antics on social media, and tells TMZ Sports he's gonna do it with his fists when the two men meet on June 17.

Kovalev's been getting heat for a meme he posted to his social media recently, one that depicts a fake convo between him and Ward, where Andre repeatedly uses both the N- and F- words.

Sergey has since deleted the video meme, but the backlash was swift from those who said that making it sound as if Ward -- a devout Christian -- dropped nonstop n-bombs was racist.

BTW ... it's not the first time the Russian fighter has been accused of racism, but he has said in the past that cultural misunderstandings were to blame for the controversies.

Ward ain't buying it, and told us there was NO DOUBT the post was racist, and he's gonna make Kovalev pay for it.

"He's culturally sound enough to know some of the things he's been doing are racially motivated. It's more motivation, definitely more motivation," Ward says ... adding, "He needs to be silenced."

Amir Khan Road Rage Goons Got Lucky ... Could've Whooped All 3!

6/16/2017 12:45 AM PDT

Boxing superstar Amir Khan says he easily could've destroyed all 3 men who got aggressive with him during a road rage incident in the U.K. on Friday ... but quickly realized he had way too much to lose.

Khan tells TMZ Sports ... three hecklers "tried to attack me" while he was driving around in Greater Manchester, England. Cops responded to the scene. No one was arrested.

"I was raging, I was really angry," Khan admits ... but says "I don't want to throw punches because I can definitely hurt someone quite badly."

"My hands are weapons. They're weapons."

Khan also says his religion played a huge role in his decision to walk away.

"It's the month of Ramadan ... It's a holy month. I'm a Muslim."

"Maybe things would have been different if it wasn't the month of Ramadan."

Sean Avery '13 Street Fight Video Surfaces ... Fought 2 Guys at Once

6/12/2017 1:00 AM PDT

Ex-NHL tough guy Sean Avery didn't just fight on the ice -- he fought in the middle of an NYC street back in 2013 ... and TMZ Sports has found the video.

We know ... it's old. But it's kind of awesome.

We've confirmed the 37-year-old former New York Rangers star -- who once led the NHL in penalty minutes -- got into it with 2 other men on June 19, 2013 after a verbal altercation escalated.

Avery kicks some serious ass before he got cheap-shotted -- and even the sucker punch didn't phase the guy. It's actually really impressive.

In the end, we're told cops were never called to the scene -- and get this, both groups actually hugged it out afterward. Seriously!

We've reached out to Avery who had no comment.

Kickboxing Fight Ends in Cheap Shot Knockout ... And Brutal Attack

6/11/2017 7:47 AM PDT

A cheap shot during a kickboxing bout left one fighter knocked out cold and the other with a possible broken jaw.

Murthel Groenhart and Harut Grigorian were in the first round of their fight at Glory 42 in Paris, when for some reason Grigorian turned his back and began walking to his corner, and Groenhart landed a vicious haymaker and it was lights out for Grigorian. Fans then rushed the ring to attack Groenhart.

In the end, Groenhart got the win by knockout.

Roy Jones Jr. Conor McGregor Could Hurt Boxing

6/11/2017 12:15 AM PDT

Roy Jones Jr. says Oscar De La Hoya is kinda right ... the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight could seriously damage boxing -- if Conor wins.

Long story short, Roy says the only way Conor wins this fight is if he gets "lucky" -- otherwise, Mayweather should beat that ass.

But Roy says he fully supports the bout -- because it's entertaining and that's what the people want.

In fact, that's why he tells us he's STILL serious about fighting Anderson Silva -- if Dana White gives him the green light.

Rex Ryan Bar Fight New Video Aggressive Margarita Tactics

6/9/2017 10:15 AM PDT

TMZ Sports has obtained new footage of the Rex & Rob Ryan bar fight in Nashville -- which shows Rex cussing out a bar patron and then spilling a margarita on the guy.

It all went down Sunday at Margaritaville -- you can see Matt Havel chatting up the ex-NFL coaches and another man at the Ryans' table ... until Havel said something that set Rex off.

Unclear what Matt said ... but Rex blows up at the guy. Rob shoves him. And while Rex grabs the guy's drink to move it to another table, someone bumps his elbow ... and Matt gets splashed with booze.

The fight quickly escalated ... with Rob eventually grabbing Matt by the neck.

Havel later filed a police report accusing both brothers of simple assault.

That said ... props to the singer who continued to play a pretty solid rendition of the Kenny Rogers classic, "The Gambler" while the scrap broke out.

Kimbo Slice's Son: 'My Father Touched a Lot of People'

6/9/2017 8:20 AM PDT

Kimbo Slice's son says his father would have loved the outpouring of love and support he got on the 1 year anniversary of his death ... with Baby Slice telling us, "I know he touched a lot of people."

The backyard fighting legend -- who went on to fight in UFC and Bellator -- passed away on June 6, 2016 due to heart issues. He was only 42.

"I guess it went by so fast for me," Kevin "Baby Slice" Ferguson tells TMZ Sports.

Clearly, Kimbo made an impression on Baby Slice -- he's an MMA fighter too and just racked up his first pro victory at Bellator 179 back in May.

Dana White Slams Report He's Off Floyd Deal ... 'I'm Running It'

6/9/2017 6:03 AM PDT

Another big star calling "fake news" on a major newspaper -- with Dana White saying reports he's not involved in the Mayweather vs. McGregor talks are complete BS.

The UFC honcho was at Mastro's in Bev Hills on Thursday when we asked about a Los Angeles Times article that says it's the UFC's ownership group (WME-IMG) and NOT White currently involved in negotiations.

"We live in a world right now where you can't believe anything that you read," White said in a shot at the L.A. Times ... "Who else would be running the Mayweather, McGregor deal than me?"

When we asked if WME was running point, White told us, "What does WME know about making big fights?"

"Trust me, I'm running the Mayweather, McGregor deal."

Of course, Dana's tirade came hours after James Comey blasted the NY Times over allegedly untrue reporting. White's a Trump guy. Maybe the two sides have more in common than we thought.

XXXTentacion Not Upping Security After KO

6/8/2017 2:42 PM PDT

4:25 PM PT -- XXXTentacion's Thursday night concert in Santa Ana, CA has been postponed. We're told the venue decided to postpone for safety concerns, on the heels of Wednesday's brawl. The show will be rescheduled. The guy who KO'd XXXTentacion at his San Diego show is just jealous of the 19-year-old rapper's success ... and XXX believes there's NO reason to hire more bodyguards.

We spoke to him Thursday after the brutal cheap shot. Although his face seemed pretty swollen, XXX says his attacker got it worse. In the video, you can see security beat the living daylights out of the guy.

Still, police tell us the suspect somehow manged to flee the scene.

According to XXX, his attacker got past 12 security guards to get to him -- which, to him, means there's no point in paying more people to protect him.

One person was stabbed backstage. At the time we spoke to him, XXX thought that person was the attacker. Cops tell us that's not the case and the stabbing victim's injury is non-life threatening.

Cops still haven't named a suspect, and there's no evidence another rapper, Rob Stone, had anything to do with it -- despite an old beef with XXX, and the chants of fans after the fight.

Draymond Green's Mom Heated Exchange with Cavs Fan ... Cops Involved

6/8/2017 8:49 AM PDT

9:33 AM PT -- Draymond's mom says she made peace with the Cavs fan.

"Everyone apologized so it's all good," she tweeted.

"If they would watch the game and enjoy it instead of worshipping it. They would be fine!"More mama drama at Game 3 ... this time, it was Draymond Green's mother who was in the middle of a hostile situation with a Cavs fan -- and security rushed in to break it up.

It all went down right after the game ended -- you can see Mary Babers in the Golden State Warriors jacket getting into it with the Cavs fan.

Unclear what was said to set the whole thing off ... but things got heated and there was some shoving. You can see Cleveland PD officers who were working the event got involved and broke it up.

You never see Mary get physical. You do see fans holding her back.

No arrests were made. We reached out to Draymond's camp for comment. So far, no word back.

Rapper XXXTentacion KO'd Onstage ... One Person Stabbed

6/8/2017 7:03 AM PDT
Exclusive Details

XXXTentacion got sucker punched onstage and knocked out cold during his show in San Diego ... which turned into an all-out brawl that left one person stabbed.

The video of the attack is insane -- XXX was up on the mic performing Wednesday night when the attacker socked him out of nowhere. Security scrambled and beat the piss out of the unidentified puncher.

Law enforcement sources tell us the stabbing happened backstage after the initial punch.

XXX was eventually carried offstage. One of his tour managers tells us he was unconscious for at least 2 minutes. We're also told XXX and his camp believe the attacker was hiding backstage.

Cops say another fight broke out later in the parking lot as well. Fans at the venue seemed to blame rapper Rob Stone for the melee -- they chanted his name as soon as the fight started, but it's unclear if he's really involved.

No arrests have been made. We're also told cops wanna talk to XXX for a statement.

Meanwhile, XXX posted a video afterward blaming the venue and security for setting him up, and he's threatening to sue.
