A frustrated Mel Gibson was pitching his new movie to a Chicago TV reporter today, only to be repeatedly blocked by questions about his infamous anti-Semetic rant -- it resulted in an A-bomb explosion.
After an uncomfortable first few minutes during the satellite interview, the WGN-TV reporter gave his obligatory "go see the movie" -- and kissed Mel off.
Mel, apparently thinking the interview was over, took a swig of his coffee drink ... and called the guy an "asshole."
So we ask ...

Those scandal tainted stars gotta stick together -- and Mel Gibson's got Tiger Woods' back.
No doubt speaking from experience, Mel stood up for the philandering golfer this morning on "GMA" -- saying "sometimes the most difficult part is being able to forgive yourself," which is hard when "everyone else is beating on you."
Mel added he now just wants "to see him play golf."

After expertly deflecting Ricky Gervais' DUI joke during the Golden Globes, Mel Gibson took his baby mama, Oksana Grigorieva, out for dinner and non-alcoholic drinks at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills.
The strict Catholic procured the services of a chauffeur-driven limousine, just in case.

Mel Gibson's movie career is changing the way bad guys serve time in Mexico -- 300 inmates have been moved to another big house to make room for a movie Gibson is shooting.
It's all going down at the Ignacio Allende prison in Veracruz, Mexico -- the prison director claims he's emptied part of the prison so Mel could use the facility for an upcoming movie.
The prison director says the inmates have been sent to at least 4 jails. It's unclear which movie Gibson is planning to shoot inside the facility.

Mel Gibson caught our photographer red-handed yesterday at a restaurant in Brentwood ... after our guy stole a joke Mel dropped six months ago and tried to pawn it off as his own.
The blatant thievery occurred after Mel finished dining with "Lethal Weapon" director Richard Donner ... when our guy not-so-cleverly decided to call Mel -- who recently had his eighth kid -- "octodad."
Too bad Mel dropped his "Octo-Mel" line on "Leno" back in May ... and Mel was sure to let our guy know about it.

With a giant smile on his face -- and stains on his shirt -- Mel Gibson took over a ping pong table at a bar in NYC this weekend and played a little table tennis with his pal Josh Brolin.
While most of the spectators surrounding the bar room athletes were pounding a drink of some sort, Gibson only had his hands on his paddle.
No word on how he got home.

In what seems to be their first public display of affection, Mel Gibson put his arm around his unwed pregnant 39-year-old girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva after they broke bread in Manhattan on Wednesday.
Oksana is due with the 53-year-old conservative Catholic's eighth child some time this fall.

Mel Gibson's 2006 DUI is now officially off his record.
Judge Lawrence Mira just signed legal documents in Malibu, expunging the misdemeanor DUI from Mel's record.
The judge noted the conviction still is relevant for "gun control purposes." It can also be used as a prior conviction if Gibson gets popped for DUI in the future.
Mel's lawyer, Blair Berk, requested the motion to dismiss on September 21 after Mel successfully completed the terms of his three-year probation.
So, it's kinda like a legal version of Yom Kippur ... he atoned for his sins and he gets a clean slate. Mazel Tov, Mel.

UPDATE: 11:06 AM ET. We've learned no one is expected to show up in court. The judge has the legal papers from Gibson's lawyer, Blair Berk, in his chambers and we're guessing he's going to sign them and expunge Mel's DUI today.
The Mel Gibson DUI/"The-Jews-are-responsible-for-all-the-wars-in-the-world" saga may come to an end in a little more than 2 hours. Mel's lawyer will ask a judge to expunge the conviction from his record.
Mel was arrested in July, 2006 on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. Initially authorities told TMZ the arrest occurred "without incident." But later that day, TMZ obtained 4 pages of the deputy's original notes that were taken out of the revised report -- 4 pages with a blow-by-blow of Mel's anti-Semitic rant.
Mel pled no contest to misdemeanor DUI and was placed on 3 years probation. Gibson has completed all the terms of his probation and it's not unusual at all for his lawyer to request that the conviction be expunged at the end of the probation period.
