NFL's Lawrence Timmons Dolphins Had Filed Missing Person Report

9/18/2017 9:06 AM PDT

The Miami Dolphins were so concerned when linebacker Lawrence Timmons went AWOL on Saturday, a team rep filed a missing persons report with police ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Here's what we know ... the Miami Dolphins team was in Southern California on Saturday to play the L.A. Chargers on Sunday.

When the team checked to make sure the players were in their rooms by curfew, Timmons was not there.

Our sources say the team scrambled to find him -- calling family and close friends before ultimately filing a missing persons report with local law enforcement.

The good news ... cops found Timmons at LAX early Sunday morning in a boarding area in an effort to get to Pennsylvania. A team rep met Timmons at the airport and left with him.

So, why Pennsylvania? We're told Timmons had spoken with his baby mama who lives there and had told her he missed the baby and wanted to visit. He was serious about visiting her.

Timmons is now back with the team and is scheduled to meet with doctors, according to ESPN.

Dolphins head coach, Adam Gase, said the team is aware of the situation, but refused to comment further.

A rep for the NFL tells us the league is investigating, saying "the matter is under review."

Landry, 24, is one of the best receivers in the NFL ... making the Pro Bowl in '15 and '16.

12:10PM PT -- Estrella Cerqueira, the mother of Landry's daughter, who was allegedly involved in the incident, released the following statement through J.L.'s rep.

“In March of 2017 the father of my child and I had a vocal disagreement that resulted in someone calling 911. I, myself did not call the police. When the police arrived they determined that there was no cause for any arrests nor was there any concern for my physical well-being. There were no arrests made, there were no criminal charges, I was not in any way physically harmed Yes, we are going through a civil family court case and emotions are high, but I would like to make it very clear that Jarvis would never, ever do anything to harm me or anyone else. Jarvis and I are happily raising our beautiful daughter and I would like to make a plea to the media that they refrain from spreading this completely false story.”

Unclear what started the fight ... but at one point a fan in a 49ers shirt stepped in between the child and the attackers and said, "I've got grandkids ... f**king a**hole."

That's when things escalated -- and the Dolphins fans got even more violent -- beating the man down in front of his family.

Mercury Morris Props to Panthers ... But You're No '72 Dolphins

12/8/2015 12:45 AM PST

TMZ Sports asked Mercury Morris -- the mouthpiece of the '72 Miami Dolphins -- how he felt about the Carolina Panthers making a run at an undefeated season. His response:

"Go ask the Patriots how difficult it is to do it and how they feel about some little kid in Guatemala wearing those perfect 19-0 Super Bowl tees."

The 68-year-old running back says he's impressed with Cam Newton and company, but says at the end of the day -- it only gets harder from here.

"I have to take my hat off to them. It's not easy to get 12 wins," Morris says.

However, Mercury warns that a "ton of teams" have made it to 12 only to lose at game 13. "The Broncos did it, Colts and the Saints a few years back."

"Let [the Panthers] get past that jinx of the 13th game and then come ask me again if I think they will have a perfect season."

Still, Morris says even if they run the table, they'll always play second fiddle to the '72 Fins.

"Do you know the second biggest canyon in the U.S.? No, because everyone only knows about the Grand Canyon. No one cares about the second to do anything."

For the record, it's Palo Duro Canyon in Texas

11/24/2015 4:20 PM PST

You know things are bad when your celebrity minority owner is begging her team for a VICTORY for her Xmas present.

That's what happened when we ran into Gloria Estefan in D.C. Monday. Of course, Gloria owns a piece of the Miami Dolphins ... who've lost 3 out of their last 4 games.

We brought up NY Giants owner Steve Tisch -- who recently told us he drops $30k per player when it comes to team gifts -- and asked if she plans to follow suit.

Short answer -- no.

In fact, she's calling out the team ... saying THEY need to play Santa Claus and deliver some damn wins down the chimney.

As we previously reported, Fryar was sentenced to 5 years behind bars this week for bilking people out of $1.2 MILLION in a mortgage fraud scheme.

"I'm concerned," Jackson says about the sentence ... "It's not good."

Jackson says he has a hard time accepting that his friend is now a convicted criminal ... but he's refusing to turn his back on Fryar.

"I'm still with him. I'm standing with him. It's hard for me to believe he did this... he was always a trustworthy, good person."

'Ninja Warrior' Star Joey Porter Got Me Cut From NFL Team

9/10/2015 11:12 AM PDT

"American Ninja Warrior" star Akbar Gbaja-Biamila may have Joey Porter to thank for his budding TV career -- 'cause AGB says it's because of Porter his NFL career was cut short!!!

It's a pretty funny story ... Akbar was a linebacker for the Miami Dolphins in 2007 -- when he claims he was supposed to sub in for Porter for a specific 3rd down defensive package.

Problem is ... Porter REFUSED to the leave the field -- and the ref threw a flag for too many guys on defense. But because JP was such a high-profile, high paid guy at the time ... Akbar was the one who paid the price.

You gotta watch the clip ... it's pretty funny the way Akbar tells the story.

And don't feel too bad for Akbar -- star of one of the biggest shows on TV -- things seemed to have worked out ...

Former Miami Dolphins cornerback Will Allen is a mini-Bernie Madoff ... so says the SEC which claims the ex-NFL player ran a multi-million dollar Ponzi scheme and blew some of the cash in clubs and casinos.

According to the Securities and Exchange Commission, Allen -- who signed a $12 million contract with the Dolphins in 2006 -- was a co-owner of Capital Financial Partners, which made loans to pro athletes.

The SEC says 36-year-old Allen and his partner raised $31 million from investors but only loaned out $18 mil ... and used some of the remaining money to PARTY THEIR ASSES OFF!

Now, the government agency is going after Allen and his partner for all of the money they allegedly stole -- plus interest and penalties.

FYI -- Allen was a 1st round pick in the 2001 NFL Draft ... and played in the league until 2012.
