Irving Fryar

Star NFL Teammate Concerned

Over Prison Sentence

10/3/2015 12:35 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

1002_keith-jackson_irving_fryer_gettyAt least one of Irving Fryar's old teammates still has his back -- ex-Miami Dolphins star Keith Jackson ... who says he believes Fryar is a good person at heart and is very concerned that he'll be spending the next 5 years in prison.

Jackson tells TMZ Sports ... he's remained friends with Fryar ever since they played together back in the '90s -- "That's my boy. I love him like a brother."

As we previously reported, Fryar was sentenced to 5 years behind bars this week for bilking people out of $1.2 MILLION in a mortgage fraud scheme.

"I'm concerned," Jackson says about the sentence ... "It's not good."

Jackson says he has a hard time accepting that his friend is now a convicted criminal ... but he's refusing to turn his back on Fryar.

"I'm still with him. I'm standing with him. It's hard for me to believe he did this... he was always a trustworthy, good person."

'Ninja Warrior' Star

Joey Porter Got Me Cut From NFL Team

9/10/2015 11:12 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

"American Ninja Warrior" star Akbar Gbaja-Biamila may have Joey Porter to thank for his budding TV career -- 'cause AGB says it's because of Porter his NFL career was cut short!!!

It's a pretty funny story ... Akbar was a linebacker for the Miami Dolphins in 2007 -- when he claims he was supposed to sub in for Porter for a specific 3rd down defensive package.

Problem is ... Porter REFUSED to the leave the field -- and the ref threw a flag for too many guys on defense. But because JP was such a high-profile, high paid guy at the time ... Akbar was the one who paid the price.

You gotta watch the clip ... it's pretty funny the way Akbar tells the story.

And don't feel too bad for Akbar -- star of one of the biggest shows on TV -- things seemed to have worked out ...

Ex-NFL Star Will Allen

Alleged Ponzi Schemer

Blew Fortune In Casino, Nightclubs

breaking news

Former Miami Dolphins cornerback Will Allen is a mini-Bernie Madoff ... so says the SEC which claims the ex-NFL player ran a multi-million dollar Ponzi scheme and blew some of the cash in clubs and casinos.

According to the Securities and Exchange Commission, Allen -- who signed a $12 million contract with the Dolphins in 2006 -- was a co-owner of Capital Financial Partners, which made loans to pro athletes.

The SEC says 36-year-old Allen and his partner raised $31 million from investors but only loaned out $18 mil ... and used some of the remaining money to PARTY THEIR ASSES OFF!

Now, the government agency is going after Allen and his partner for all of the money they allegedly stole -- plus interest and penalties.

FYI -- Allen was a 1st round pick in the 2001 NFL Draft ... and played in the league until 2012.

Story developing ...

Rick Ross

I'm Still Gunning for Dolphins Ownership

2/26/2015 3:42 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

022615_rick_ross_launchRick Ross says he still wants to be Tha Boss of the Miami Dolphins ... telling TMZ Sports he "can't wait" for team officials to invite him to become a minority owner.

As we previously reported, Ross met with the Dolphins last year -- and said he was willing and able to buy a piece of the team ... just like Serena Williams, Gloria Estefan and others.

But the hold up is the Dolphins ... who ultimately decide which rich people they'll "invite" into the ownership group and when to invite them.

So, when we saw Ross out in NYC Wednesday night, we had to ask if he was still into the idea ... or if all of the waiting had turned him off.

Check out the clip ... it's clear Ross is willing to be patient to get what he wants.

BONUS -- Ross also screws with our photog ... and it's pretty funny.

"I have 2 beautiful daughters. I was hitting that shore," Konrad says.

Konrad says he saw boats in the water -- but the boats didn't see him -- so, "I had to get my mind right."

As for the shark, Konrad says it circled him in the water, but never attacked. Konrad said it was nothing short of a miracle.

When he finally got near the beach, Konrad says he could hear the waves crashing on the shore -- "It was a beautiful sound."

Now, the Coast Guard tells us they have found the boat -- which finally washed ashore on the Grand Bahamas Island.

As for Konrad, he was hospitalized for hypothermia ... but has since been released.

No word on if he plans to keep the boat.

'Lemme Know If I Can Help!'

10/10/2014 6:25 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
Diddy is no dummy ... so when he told us last night that he thinks it's a "great idea" for Rick Ross to buy a piece of the Miami Dolphins, The Boss should probably do it.

Earlier this week, Rick revealed that he sat down with Dolphins big wigs and talked about owning a piece of the NFL team

"It was a real positive conversation," Ross said.

So when we asked Diddy how he felt about it, the hip hop mogul not only gave his blessing ... but asked how he could help make it happen.

BTW -- Diddy doesn't own a team himself, but has stated in the past that he wants to own a MAJORITY stake in an NFL franchise in the future.

He's reportedly worth $580 million ... so it ain't exactly out of the picture.

Martin never responded on Incognito .. at least, not on Twitter.

Cecil 'The Diesel' Collins

Ex-LSU Star Dodges Return to Prison

3/17/2014 4:05 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
Former LSU football legend Cecil "the Diesel" Collins just scored a huge victory in court -- the man who once racked up 3,079 yards in a single high school season ... is not going back to prison on a probation violation ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Collins already served 13 and a half years behind bars in Florida for committing a super creepy Miami burglary back in 1999 -- cutting short a promising career with the Miami Dolphins in the process.

Collins admitted breaking into a woman's apartment, but here's the super creepy part ... he said he only did it to watch her sleep.

At the time of the Miami incident ... Collins was already on probation for committing 2 similar crimes in Louisiana -- he was accused of breaking into homes and fondling 2 women -- so prosecutors there wanted to nail him with up to 5 years in prison for violating probation.

Today a Baton Rouge judge let Collins off with 3 years probation and said he could move back to Florida. He will have to undergo random drug testing and check in regularly with a parole officer.

Sweet dreams, South Florida.

Exclusive Details
311_graham_garcon_uso_launch Jimmy Graham only knows one speed -- game speed -- and during a USO trip to Afghanistan last week, he broke out his basketball skills during a 1-on-1 game with a U.S. solider.

The New Orleans Saints star -- along with Redskins WR Pierre Garcon and Dolphins punter Brandon Fields -- went to the Middle East to visit soldiers in the field.

"It was an uplifting experience," Garcon tells TMZ Sports ... "It's amazing seeing the work they are doing to protect us."

Garcon says everyone he met was a huge sports fan -- "They were telling us stories about how they wake up at 3am to watch football. And then depending on how their team does, they're in a good mood or bad for the rest of the day."

The gang not only traveled, ate and hung out with the soldiers -- they also tossed around a football in their downtime.

"This experience for me has truly been life-changing," Graham said in a statement following the trip ... "I grew up in a Military home and this just makes me more of a patriot. I have more of an appreciation for the little things we have back home each and every day."
