Aaron Hernandez Lawyers File Motion to Dismiss Murder Conviction

4/25/2017 11:12 AM PDT
Breaking News

That was quick!

Just days after Aaron Hernandez's death, his legal team has already filed a motion to have his murder conviction officially dismissed ... as part of a Massachusetts law that everyone's talking about.

As we previously reported, Hernandez's team believes that a concept called abatement ab initio requires the court to throw out Hernandez's conviction in the Odin Lloyd case because Aaron died before he could finish the appeal process.

Hernandez's legal team, led by Jose Baez, has now filed to make that happen -- but it won't come without opposition.

The Bristol County D.A.'s office tells TMZ Sports, "We have been reviewing the matter and intend to file an opposition to the defense motion within the next week."

Hernandez died on Wednesday after officials found him hanging in the prison cell where he was serving a life sentence for the murder of Odin Lloyd.

NFL Prospect Gareon Conley Accused of Rape ... Denies Allegations

4/25/2017 9:52 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Gareon Conley -- a projected 1st round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft -- has been named in a police report by a woman who claims he raped her in a Cleveland hotel but he adamantly DENIES the allegations.

The 21-year-old was a superstar cornerback at Ohio State University and draft experts say he could be taken as high as #10 in the draft on Thursday.

But according to a police report filed in Cleveland, and obtained by TMZ Sports, a 23-year-old white female told police Conley violated her in a hotel suite bathroom at a Westin hotel on April 9.

According to the report, the accuser says she met Conley in a hotel elevator around 3AM and brought her back to his hotel room. She claims Conley asked her to have a foursome with another friend of his and a woman. The accuser says she declined and offered to watch the other couple have sex in the hotel room bathroom instead.

A short time later, the woman says Conley unbuttoned her pants and began to have sex with her. She claims she said, "No, stop, it hurts!" but he kept going until he finished. She says Conley then kicked her out of the hotel room.

The woman called 911 and described her assailant as a "black male who wouldn't take his sunglasses off and had an Ohio State tattoo on his left forearm."

The woman says she went to a local hospital where a rape kit was administered.

An officer tried to speak with the accuser at the hospital but she refused to do an interview. Instead, she told the cop she wanted to go home and "that her dignity was stripped from her in a matter of minutes." She refused to speak to cops after that.

As for Conley, two of his friends who were in the hotel room were interviewed by police and told cops Conley never hooked up with the woman and that she was just mad that she got kicked out of the room.

One of Conley's friends said the two had been lying on the bed together "but nothing happened."

Conley was not in the room when police arrived and his friends said they did not know where he went.

Conley's attorney spoke with Cleveland19 and denied the allegations calling the accusations "ludicrous and ridiculous."

Cops are investigating but so far no arrests have been made and no charges have been filed.

We spoke with police who tell us the results from the rape kit are not in at this point. The sex crimes unit is now on the case.

10:49 AM PT -- Conley is now tweeting about the case ... kinda.

Conley's college teammate, Marshon Lattimore (who's also an NFL Draft prospect), posted, "So the first thing you say to a girl that you meet in the elevator is let's have a foursome? Lol that doesn't even make sense."

He added, "It's crazy how these females are nowadays, they most definitely prey on you and try to ruin you."

Conley retweeted the post and commented, "Lord knows!"

Marshon added, "We good over here though bro [Gareon Conley] we know the deal!"

Colin Kaepernick Hits Chris Brown Concert In NYC ... with Boxing Star

4/25/2017 6:44 AM PDT
Breaking News

So many questions ...

Colin Kaepernick turned up in Brooklyn, NY on Monday -- hanging at the Chris Brown concert at the Barclays Center where he posed for a photo with boxing star Adrien Broner.

Kaep and Chris Brown have been friends for a while -- the singer was a big supporter of Colin's national anthem protest and his 'Know Your Rights Camp' campaign. They posed for a pic together back in January.

Unclear how Broner got facetime with Colin -- it's possible he just asked for a quick selfie.

The other question ... what's Kaep doing in NYC?

His girlfriend, Nessa, is a top DJ at Hot 97 in New York (and she's also friendly with Chris Brown).

The other theory is Colin is perhaps talking to an East Coast team looking for some QB help -- aka the Jets.

As for the concert, we're told it was lit ... a bunch of stars were there including Fabolous, ASAP Ferg, Young Ma, Lil Kim, Cam'ron and more.

Tony Gonzalez Romo Didn't Cost Me CBS Job ... I Left On My Own

4/25/2017 6:04 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Tony Gonzalez says he was NOT forced out at CBS to make room for the new guy, Tony Romo -- telling TMZ Sports the decision to leave was HIS and his alone.

The future Hall of Fame tight end spent 3 seasons on "The NFL Today" (and was pretty good) only to announce he was leaving the show back in March.

A few days later, CBS announced Romo was joining the network as a live game broadcaster -- replacing Phil Simms who will take over for Gonzalez on "The NFL Today."

So ... was Tony G pushed out??

Gonzalez is adamant the answer is 'No' -- and gives a pretty solid explanation about his career choice.

And for the record, Tony G says he wishes Romo well and even offers some advice.

Pacman Jones New Arrest Footage Released 'Keep Yelling and See What Happens'

4/24/2017 2:05 PM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

TMZ Sports has obtained new footage from the night Cincinnati Bengals star Pacman Jones was arrested for assault -- and it shows even MORE of the tense relationship between Pac and the cops.

Police had responded to Hyatt hotel in Cinci after a security guard claimed Pacman had gotten physical with him.

When cops arrived, Jones was being argumentative -- and the lead officer wasn't having it.

Watch the bodycam footage, the officer lets Pacman know right away he has no patience for the NFL star -- "You want to have a conversation? Have a conversation. Quit yelling like a little kid."

Jones' friend tries to talk to the officer and get him to release the NFL star by saying the arrest will hurt Pacman's reputation leading up to a youth football camp.

A short time later, Pacman is put into a squad car -- and that's when we he went crazy on the arresting officer ... wishing death upon him and telling him to, "Suck my d**k."

Jones was charged with assault, disorderly conduct and obstructing police officers. Pacman pled not guilty. He's due back in court May 16.

Busy day for Houston Texans running back Alfred Blue -- who found out his beloved Chevy Camaro somehow ended up in a Louisiana swamp Monday morning.

Law enforcement tells TMZ Sports the NFL player is the owner of the car -- but he was NOT driving during the incident and was not present during the crash.

So, what happened? Unclear exactly but cops say no arrests were made and miraculously no one was seriously injured.

We reached out to Blue's reps. Waiting for a call back.

Donte Stallworth Gisele Didn't Veto Brady's WH Visit ... He's Still Trump's Boy

4/23/2017 12:50 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Tom Brady didn't get his White House visit sacked by his supermodel wife ... that's according to his ex-teammate, Donte Stallworth, who tells TMZ Sports Brady would never duck his guy, Donald Trump.

Brady skipped the Patriots trip to the WH earlier this week and, although he said it was a family matter that kept him away, there's been speculation Gisele's hatred of the Donald is the real reason.

Stallworth says no, telling us he knows firsthand how close Trump and Brady are ... and it's a friendship Donte can't see eroding anytime soon.

FYI -- Trump didn't mention Brady once during his address to the media at the White House, so maybe a boys' trip to Mar-a-Lago is in order, just to be sure.

NFL's Nate Burleson Christian McCaffrey Will Dominate NFL 'He's A Beast'

4/23/2017 12:35 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

The NFL is about to get destroyed by a beast named Christian McCaffrey ... so says former league stud Nate Burleson who is all in on the former college football's star's pro future.

McCarffrey struggled a little bit during his bench press at the Combine, making some believe the 5'11", 203-pounder might not have the strength to compete in the big leagues.

Burleson doesn't agree ... the guy's eyes light up at the very mention of MCaffrey, and he goes on to call Christian an "absolute monster."

New England Patriots May Owe Aaron Hernandez $6 Mil ... Victim's Lawyer Claims

4/21/2017 11:02 AM PDT
Breaking News

The lawyer for Odin Lloyd's family says the New England Patriots may be on the hook to pay Aaron Hernandez $6 MILLION from his NFL contract ... but he wants the team to give the money to the victim's family instead.

Douglas Sheff -- who represents Lloyd's mother, Ursula Ward -- addressed the media about "abatement" ... the law in Massachusetts that essentially erases a conviction if the person dies before he's exhausted all of his appeals.

Sheff says he's spoken with experts who say if Hernandez's murder conviction is erased, the Patriots may be forced to pay out part of his contract ... which could total $6 million.

Sheff says the Lloyd family intends to fight like hell for that money.

He also makes a "friendly challenge" to the Patriots to work with the NFL Players Association in working out a deal to pay that money to the families of the victims in Hernandez's murder cases instead of giving it to Aaron's estate.

Don't hold your breath ... there's about a zero percent chance the Patriots do that because if the courts rule AH is entitled to the money, the team is obligated to pay it to the estate ... and then Sheff and others can fight for it.

Ex-Cowboys RB Joseph Randle Found Guilty In Battery Case

4/21/2017 9:41 AM PDT
Breaking News

Ex-Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle has been found guilty of battery after allegedly running people over with his car last year ... but the court session was very bizarre.

Randle was in court in Wichita, Kansas to face multiple charges for the incident -- in which prosecutors say he got violent during a beer pong game at a house party in Feb. 2016.

Moments ago, the 25-year-old was found guilty of aggravated battery, criminal threats, aggravated burglary and possession of marijuana.

But when the judge asked Randle if he had any questions about the verdict, he replied, "I don't understand what just happened."

Randle then asked if he had been charged with anything today in a confusing exchange with the judge ... this according to KWCH's Akeam Ashford.

The lawyers in the case are now speaking with the judge.

Randle has exhibited bizarre behavior for years -- he was arrested 6 times in 17 months including an incident in which he stole underwear and cologne from a department store while he was still playing for the Cowboys.

Since then, he was arrested at a casino, busted at his ex-girlfriend's home, and allegedly ripped a TV off the wall in jail.
