With a court date tomorrow stemming from her DUI last December, Nicole "The Pillow" Richie did what any pregnant, emaciated, spoiled starlet would do -- flee the country! Oh, Canada!
Taking a cue from the Michael Jackson Children's School of Disguise, Nicole arrived in Calgary hiding behind a pillow with baby daddy-to-be, Good Charlotte's Joel Madden. Lifestyles of the rich and the famous! The unwed couple are up north because Joel's band has a show tonight at the Calgary Stampede -- an A-list rodeo! Apparently, times are not-so-good, Charlotte.
Nicole will be able to enjoy her time at the rodeo, because Wednesday's court date is a motions hearing -- for which she does not need to be present. So while Wrong Way Richie won't personally be attempting to get out of her DUI tomorrow, she'll still be knee-deep in bullsh**t!

Tatty baby daddy wants to dress up his look before the brat pops? How else to explain Joel Madden in Beverly Hills?
The Good Charlotte frontman/Nicole Richie baby daddy was spotted dropping off the hot very little mama at her West Hollywood apartment, and was later seen shopping alone at Barneys. A new dad's gotta look good! He can try.
"So You Think You Can Dance's" Shane Sparks talked to cameras as he made his way into club Element. The TV show judge/choreographer gave his nickel's worth on this season's show.
Mr. Chow opened its doors for camera flash favorites, tushalicious Kim Kardashian and chicken dancer Bai Ling, while Joseph's hosted pretty boys J.C. Chasez and giggly Brody Jenner.

The Commissioner in the Nicole Richie DUI case did not grant the continuance Nicole Richie wanted. Period.
As TMZ first reported, Richie's lawyer asked for a continuance until August 5th, because her expert witness, Dr. Terence McGee, was not available to testify then. Commissioner Steven Lubell was visibly upset and ordered both Nicole's lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, and the prosecutor into chambers. When the Commissioner came out, he said he would not rule on the continuance and ordered all parties into court tomorrow morning at 8:30 AM -- that's when the trial is scheduled to begin.
Seems like Nicole is in a pickle. She flew to Calgary last night with baby daddy Joel Madden, who is performing a gig in the Great White North. Will Nicole bail on the concert and come back to face the Commish?

Nicole Richie's lawyer tried to fool TMZ by going to court a day early, but it didn't work!
We were at the courthouse when Shawn Chapman-Holley appeared. She has not approached the bench yet, but she just told us she will ask the Commissioner to postpone Nicole's DUI trial. It's supposed to start tomorrow. She's asking for a new trial date of August 5.
Chapman-Holley just filed a motion, stating the reason for the continuance -- Nicole's expert witness, Dr. Terence McGee, can't testify until the August date. Dr. McGee is a nationally recognized expert on drug testing. Will Nicole challenge the drug test? If so, what's the deal with the alleged confession -- that she had smoked dope and taken Vicodin before driving the wrong way on an L.A. freeway.
TMZ got its paws on this photo of pregnant Nicole (pillow in face) with baby daddy Joel Madden. The couple was flying out of LAX. Joel's band, Good Charlotte, has a gig tonight in Calgary, Canada.
BTW, if Nicole is convicted, she faces a minimum of five days in the pokey.
UPDATE: Nicole's lawyer and the prosecutor have gone before the Commissioner to discuss the continuance. The Commissioner looked upset and ordered both lawyers into his chambers. Stay tuned...

Nicole Richie's daddy Lionel Richie spoke out about his daughter's recent legal troubles. Nicole's DUI trial is set for July 11. She was arrested in December for driving under the influence and pleaded not guilty.
Richie told FOXNews.com that, "she keeps apologizing to me. I told her 'You're doing exactly what you're supposed to be doing to your father at this age." Talk about arrested development!
Richie-the-elder then blamed the media for his daughter's drama. "There's just so much information out there right now -- MySpace, cell phones, the Internet. If we had had all that when The Commodores were around, God only knows what my mother and father would have seen." Probably some dancing on the ceiling!

Will a sympathetic judge delay Nicole Richie's mandatory jail sentence if she's convicted? Don't get your hopes up, honey.
TMZ did some checking on the guy in the robe who will preside over her case and sentence her if she's convicted. The guy is Los Angeles County Commissioner Steven Lubell. The legal eagles who have appeared in his courtroom say he's tough and very much by the book. He will not give Richie any special treatment, and our sources say her pregnancy won't amount to squat when it comes to serving time.
Richie's trial is scheduled to begin next Wednesday. If convicted, it will be her second DUI and she'll face a minimum of five days in jail.
Lynnwood ladies -- let's get ready to rumble!

Inseminated and emaciated starlet Nicole Richie's legal woes may get even worse. If the micro-sized Richie is sentenced to do time in the clink, there'll be no VIP treatment for the puny reality star.
The birdlike Richie is expecting the stork in just six months. Pregnant inmates are housed in the general population and given a high calorie diet -- oh the horror -- and prenatal vitamins. Eat up, hon! If Nic goes into labor while doing time, she'll be forced to pop the kid at a hospital contracted by her Los Angeles correctional facility -- no VIP suite at Cedars Sinai!
The usual hospital stay for jailbird mommies is three days, with the required Sheriff's deputy standing guard. Then it's back to the pen -- without the newbie! The precious celebuspawn of Nicole and Joel would be given to either the father, or the grandparents! All night long!
Upon release from the hospital -- it's back to Chez Jail!

TMZ has independently confirmed that Nicole Richie is pregnant.
The starlet has been dating Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden for over six months. Rumors have been swirling for months that Richie and Madden were expecting, but TMZ has confirmed through several sources that she is, in fact, with child. In Touch magazine is also reporting that the couple will wed this summer. Richie is currently facing DUI charges stemming from her arrest last December, when she was found driving the wrong way on a California highway.
Richie's trial is set for July 11. If convicted, she faces a minimum of five days in jail.
Richie's rep did not return repeated calls for comment.

Sunday, Nicole's horoscope reminds her that while her skinny socialite schedule is easy-breezy, not all of her friends have the same luxuries. "Your schedule is flexible, but your friends aren't. Check with them before booking." Perhaps that's Nicole's horoscope reminding her to give Lynwood a ring before showing up to visit Paris.
Her horoscope also says that Nicole will be getting "cozily domestic." No more late nights at Hyde and Area in Nicole's future? Will it be baby blankets and breast-feeding instead of oh-so-big sun-glasses and Vicodin from here on out?
On Monday, her horoscope reports that Nicole's ready to bask in some glory. Is that baby mama glory? "The stars say your efforts will pay off in a big way, especially if you don't try and rush the results." Is that a big BELLY way? And would those results be the results of an EPT pregnancy test? Plus if you're pregnant, minus if you're not! Either way, recommends her horoscope, Nicole should "sit back and enjoy the ride," "bump"-y or not!
And on Friday, Nicole's horoscope says that she's "always had a soft spot for someone who seems like they might be in need of a helping hand, courtesy of your generous soul." Now that Paris will be out of jail next week, Nicole's star sign is telling her to offer the frenemy hand of friendship over. After all, Nicole may be doing time sometime soon, and Paris could teach her a thing or two about life in the big house!

With pregnancy rumors running every which way, Nicole Richie and borefriend Joel Madden added fuel to the baby blabber fire. TMZ spies saw them purchase a $300 Born Out of Necessity chic leather diaper bag at Bel-Bambini baby boutique on Thursday. But even if she's not pregnant, Richie might want to consider getting knocked up real soon -- it might save her from following in Paris' shackled footsteps.
With her DUI trial set to begin on July 11, what judge in his right mind would send a pregnant waif to the slammer?! Oh the humanity! If she's found guilty, Wrongway Richie will spend a minimum of five days in jail, with the possibility of up to a year behind bars -- and we're not talkin' Hyde!
Anyone know of a good prison daycare?

At the forefront of civil protest, leading the cause of the moment, actress/Oscar attendee Sally Kirkland appeared outside of Lynwood jail yesterday, pleading for mercy for Paris Hilton, but from the look of Kirkland, she's the one who could use some mercy! Nurse!
Looking as if someone woke her up about five minutes before the protest, Miss Kirkland took the time to plead for prayers for Nicole Richie too, calling the wayward "Simple Life" stars her "angels." Oh Lord! Kirkland, who'd worked with Paris and Nicole as an acting coach on the series, was interviewed alongside a mob of Paris supporters numbering at least half a dozen.
The talented, vagabondish actress then led the protest into nearby streets, where she seemed lost in the confusion, or perhaps just confused. Paris' lawyer, Richard Hutton, unseen by the protesters, happened upon the scene and could only shake his head in disbelief at the groundswell of support for the heiress/convict.

TMZ was in court moments ago when Nicole Richie's lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley announced her client will try and beat the rap. A trial date was set for July 11.
Richie was arrested last December after she was driving the wrong way on an L.A. freeway. Cops say she confessed that she had been smoking pot and had taken Vicodin.
The stakes are high for Richie. She has a prior DUI and if she's convicted this time around she faces a minimum 5 days in the pokey. Worst case scenario for Richie -- one year in the slammer.

To the naked eye, singer Paulina Rubio looks quite stylish, but look deeper into her ensemble, and you can see her glaring unoriginality.
Paulina was seen leaving the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills on Wednesday, wearing this kaleidoscopic bandana -- a look taken right from the closet of weavetastic pop mom Britney Spears. The oversized beauty goggles are a staple of the Nicole Richie school, while her ratty peroxided locks and pouting lips are hallmarks of the hobo-chic Olsen twins. And how does she acknowledge the photogs? With rehabber Lindsay Lohan's favorite gesture -- the peace sign. *yawn*
Rubio's latest single, Ayudame, means "Help me." It seems like she's helped herself ... to everyone else's leftovers.

Okay, so it's a relative thing. But Nicole Richie looks more like a human being -- and not a skeletal hint of one -- than we've seen in ages.
The directionally-challenged motorist was spotted yesterday with boyfriend Joel Madden while leaving skin spa Kate Somerville in Beverly Hills, and aside from the rather alien protrusion from her left wrist, she looked the picture of un-made-up health. What do they do in that spa?!
Joel, on the other hand, not quite as lovely. Unshaven, with some splotchy red patches and what appears to be a tomahawk-shaped tattoo behind his ear ... perhaps it's just standing next to him that makes Nicole look healthy.

Nicole Richie's dad is a little out of touch with his tabloid fodder daughter.
TMZ spotted Lionel outside of Mr. Chow last night, where our photog asked the "Dancing on the Ceiling" singer if there was any truth to the rumors that Nicole was preggers. Lionel's response -- "I don't know, I'll find out myself!" Also in the mood for some chicken dumplings: Bernie Mac, a dancing Stevie Wonder and "Beetlejuice" himself, Michael Keaton.
Not only did he save a life and make friends with "OC" hunk Ben McKenzie last week, Cuba Gooding Jr. hooked up with another teen-centric soap star last night outside The Prime Grill, screaming "Hey! Lex Luthor!" to "Smallville" star Michael Rosenbaum.
Also out last night: Elisha Cuthbert and "Police Academy" star G.W. Bailey -- who had some choice words for jailbird Paris Hilton.
