Looks like Diddy done buried the hatchet with the hip-hop cop who got in his face after the VMAs this weekend.
The rap mogul went on Hot 97 this morning and claimed he and the officer "worked it out" after Diddy called the guy a "mother f**ker" Sunday night.
Diddy explained, "It was just a little misunderstanding ... miscommunication." He added, "Me and the officer, we worked it out ... things were a little aggressive for me, which I'm not really used to. "
Diddy also claimed the cop was a plain-clothed police officer -- but the NYPD tells us that's just not true.

It was either the ballsiest move -- or the stupidest move -- Diddy ever made ... getting right in the face of a tough-talking hip-hop cop, not affiliated with the NYPD, and calling him a "mother f**ker" during an extremely heated confrontation.
It all went down Sunday night outside a VMA afterparty at 1 Oak -- the cop forcefully instructed Diddy to keep moving on the sidewalk ... to which the record mogul replied, "Lower your f**king voice when you're talking to me ... I'm a man just like you."
The cop then yelled back at Diddy, "I don't give a f**k who you are."
Diddy turned and shouted back, "I don't give a f**k who you are either mother f**ker!"
The two men continued to yell at each other until Diddy's entourage ripped him away.
According to MTV, Diddy eventually made it into the club. He later Twittered "I'm gonna say this, we should always have respect for each other! End of discussion" -- but it's unclear whether he was addressing this situation or the one between Kanye and Taylor Swift.

He might not be in the trenches, but Diddy has joined the student protests at Howard University through his Twitter page.
Diddy -- who went to school at H.U. back in the day -- has been firing off several messages to the waves of students currently protesting over housing and financial aid packages.
For the last two hours, Diddy has been sending messages like, "NO JUSTICE! NO PEACE!!! Let me know if yall need me to come down there yall! I got yall BACK! Let's go!!!"
And just to be clear he's not encouraging violence, Diddy then wrote, "Do what we did and take IT OVER!!!! Let's go! And do it in a peaceful way but DO IT!! ... If your at HU go to the A building now and make sure they feel you!!! And send me updates!!! Let's go!"

P. Diddy handpicked Day 26 in Season 4 of "Making the Band" -- and now they're being accused of handpicking one of their new songs straight from someone else's album!
In a copyright infringement notice fired off to Bad Boy Records -- the company ran and founded by Diddy -- singer Kirby Shields alleges his song "I'm Just Getting Started" is "identical" to Day 26's "Just Getting Started," released in April.
And here's the rub: Shields says the copycat track was produced by Christian Davis Stalnecker, the same producer he hired to work "exclusively" for him back in '07.

Mo' money mo' problems for Puff Daddy.
Records show the rap mogul's popular soul food eatery in Atlanta, Justin's Restaurant, owes $7,373 in back taxes -- this according to The Detroit News.
Diddy's reps claim it was all just a misunderstanding and say the government was sending notices to the restaurant's headquarters office in NYC -- which closed over ten years ago.
Bottom line -- Diddy says the check's in the mail.

Diddy's been accused of stealing any number of things, but this is a first: An artist says the rapper's "Unforgivable" cologne bottle stinks because it's just like a sculpture he did.
Tom Patti filed a lawsuit last week in Federal court against P.D. and his company, alleging he ripped off the glass cradle of "Unforgivable" (below right) from his design called "Modulated Solar Airframe" (below left).
Yes, both are glass bottles with ribbing and a receptacle. Yes, this bottle of cologne comes with a glass cradle. The artist wants unspecified damages.
Diddy's people declined to comment.

You may have heard Diddy is groveling for four measly tickets to the Inauguration of the century. You heard wrong.
Not only does Puffy have tickets to Obamapalooza, we're told he got 'em straight from the top.
His peeps tell TMZ, "The story is ridiculous and untrue. Diddy was offered tickets by the Obama inaugural committee because of his work on the campaign trail with Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige and Kevin Liles. He never asked for tickets and he was never asked to pay for them."
Says P.D. himself, "I am very grateful to be a part of this moment in history. I'll see ya'll at the inauguration."

For all those betting on today's Orange Bowl, there's now a wild card... and his name is Diddy.
Brian Kelly, coach for the Cincinnati Bearcats, moved the team from the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach because P. Diddy and Co. were throwing a huge NYE bash at LIV nightclub there and the coach felt it would be one giant distraction.
We're checking to see if Virginia Tech footed Diddy's bill.
