Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Kapernick Blackballed? 'Hard to Say'

4/21/2017 9:06 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar tells TMZ Sports it's "hard to say" if Colin Kaepernick is being blackballed by the NFL ... and says we'll just have to "wait and see" if he gets hired before the 2017 season.

Kareem has been outspoken about the Kaepernick situation in the past -- he even wrote an article about Kaep's protests in The Washington Post

But he's not ready to declare the NFL anti-Kaep yet ... and when we saw him at the Joe Torre Safe at Home event in L.A., the NBA legend said we'd have to speak with someone "in management" to get a better idea.

Well, we did that ... we talked to Denver Broncos exec John Elway who shot down the idea that Kaepernick's protest has anything to do with his current state of unemployment.

But several players, including Terrell Suggs, aren't buying Elway's explanation ... telling TMZ Sports he IS getting punished for his protest. Suggs told Kaep to stay strong

As for whether Kareem agrees with Jim Harbaugh -- who said Kaep should be celebrated for his protest -- Kareem has thoughts on that too.

Lance Bass We Gotta Step Up And Help Gays in Chechnya

4/20/2017 10:12 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Lance Bass is sickened by news of gay concentration camps in Chechnya, and thinks it's time for more U.S. politicians to speak up and put a stop to it.

Lance tackled the brutal topic Thursday morning, telling us the alleged brutality -- the rounding up of gay men in the Russian republic -- is just now starting to get the necessary attention.

He thanked one high profile politician for getting word out, but clearly wants more done -- and quickly. Lance also had a message of solidarity for those scared for their lives right now.

Oprah I WON'T Say Their Names But My Vacay with Obamas Was ...

4/20/2017 8:52 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Oprah Winfrey loved gabbing with us about her super fab yacht vacay, but took a code of silence when it came to saying 2 names ... Barack and Michelle Obama.

We got O in D.C. Wednesday night, and asked her about her Tahiti trip with, not only the ex-POTUS and FLOTUS, but Tom Hanks and Bruce Springsteen. She gushed about the yacht itself, she's a frequent floater, and explained how they all ended up there together.

But watch what happens when she runs down the guest list. Interesting, especially because we've all seen pics of the Obamas on deck.

C'mon, O! Who are we gonna tell?

Donald Trump C'mon In Kid, Ted and Sarah!!! Check Out My Digs

4/20/2017 8:11 AM PDT

Donald Trump held a super-conservative celebrity summit Wednesday night, mugging with Kid Rock, Ted Nugent and Sarah Palin.

The pic was snapped in the Oval office during a dinner visit. The trio plus Ted's wife and Kid's fiancee showed up and got the primo tour. They even took a jab at Hillary Clinton, posing in front of her portrait.

No secret why they'd be invited ... all 3 supported Trump during the election. The photo looks like a conservative celeb hall of fame.

Gisele Tweets Anti-Trump Protest As Brady Bails on White House

4/20/2017 7:04 AM PDT
Breaking News

It's looking like Gisele Bundchen may have been behind Tom Brady's decision to bail on the New England Patriots' White House celebration.

Just hours before the White House ceremony began Wednesday, Gisele promoted an anti-Trump protest called The People's Climate March -- saying, "On April 29th in Washington- D.C. - March for climate, jobs, and justice. To change everything, we need everyone."

It's no secret Gisele dislikes Donald Trump. The day before the election, someone on social media baited her, saying, "Gisele I heard you and tom were backing Trump! Is that true??" She fired back, "NO!"

Gisele clearly has an influence on her hubby. Right after the election, he muzzled himself about politics for what he obliquely called "a good decision ... made for our family."

For some reason few media outlets are reporting the obvious ... Donald Trump feels betrayed. The president has gone out of his way for years to sing Brady's praises, yet at Wednesday's ceremony he made no mention of Brady, despite calling out other players.

As one source said, this is now at feud level ... "When Donald Trump feels betrayed, it's over."

Fair to say ... the relationship between Trump and Brady is kaput.

Jim Harbaugh America 'Must Celebrate' Kaepernick ... for Anthem Protest

4/20/2017 6:36 AM PDT
Breaking News

Colin Kaepernick's former 49ers head coach, Jim Harbaugh, is coming out STRONG in defense of his old QB -- saying Americans "must celebrate" him for his National Anthem protest.

Harbaugh -- who's now the head coach at Michigan -- authored the write-up for Kaep who was named as one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people.

In his piece, Harbaugh praises Colin as a great player and a courageous person -- and says the U.S. is "lucky" to have him as a citizen.

"Colin Kaepernick was alone in his early protests last year when he boldly and courageously confronted perceived inequalities in our social-justice system by refusing to stand for the national anthem," Harbaugh wrote.

"At times in our nation's history, we have been all too quick to judge and oppose our fellow Americans for exercising their First Amendment right to address things they believe unjust."

"Rather than besmirch their character, we must celebrate their act."

He continued, "How lucky for us all and for our country to have among our citizens someone as remarkable as Colin Kaepernick."

Bill O'Reilly Pope Meeting Not Enough to Save Job

4/19/2017 3:13 PM PDT

Bill O'Reilly had what turned out to be an 11th hour meeting with Pope Francis -- but even shaking hands with His Holiness wasn't enough to spare his gig at FOX News.

Bill was in St. Peter's Square Wednesday morning -- he'd been on vacation -- when he got an audience with the Pontiff. Just a quick meet and greet really ... handshake, exchange of salutations.

But put yourself in Bill's shoes at the time -- wouldn't ya have to ask for a prayer or two?

As we reported ... FOX News announced O'Reilly would not return to the network after about 70 advertisers pulled out amid allegations of sexual harassment against him.

Only so much a Pope can do.

Malia Obama Secret Service Agents Detain Man After Marriage Proposal

4/19/2017 1:15 PM PDT
Exclusive Details

Malia Obama's day at the office was interrupted by a guy asking her to marry him ... and her Secret Service agents took him into custody because he has a sketchy history with the White House.

Law enforcement sources confirm 30-year-old Jair Nilton Cardoso was detained after he showed up on April 10 at the Weinstein Company offices in Manhattan where Malia is interning. We're told the man held a sign up against an office window that read, "Will you marry me?".

Agents kicked him out, but 2 days later he showed up again outside another building where Malia was working. This time agents recognized him as a guy who'd attempted to get into the White House multiple times.

We're told Malia never felt threatened because her agents were there and, as one source put it ... "she didn't want to make a stink" about the situation. Agents interviewed Cardoso, determined he needed psychiatric evaluation and took him to a hospital.

He was not charged with a crime, as the NY Daily News first reported.

Congressman Jason Chaffetz I'm Sick of Sleeping on Office Cot ... So I'm Leaving D.C.

4/19/2017 1:33 PM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Congressman Jason Chaffetz is calling quits on a career with a rising trajectory because he's done sleeping on a cot most nights, far far away from his family.

Chaffetz says he can't afford to support two homes ... his wife and kids are in Utah, while he's mostly in D.C. So he sleeps in his office, showers in the House Gym, and he's not alone ... scores of other representatives, including Paul Ryan, are members of the unenviable club.

He's only 50, and popular in Utah, so once he leaves office when his term expires in 2018, he'll return home. Something tells us ... he's not done with politics.

Bill O'Reilly Officially Out at Fox News Channel

4/19/2017 11:41 AM PDT
Breaking News

2:15 PM PT -- O'Reilly released a statement thanking his fans, but added, "It is tremendously disheartening that we part ways due to completely unfounded claims. But that is the unfortunate reality many of us in the public eye must live with today."Bill O'Reilly is officially out at Fox News Channel.

FNC's parent company -- 21st Century FOX -- released a statement saying, "After a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the Company and Bill O'Reilly have agreed that Bill O'Reilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel."

O'Reilly departs in the wake of numerous sexual harassment allegations by female co-workers ... the latest of which is a woman who anonymously said through her lawyer, Lisa Bloom, that O'Reilly would leer at her and call her "hot chocolate."

FOX News and O'Reilly already paid upwards of $13 mil in settlements involving sexual harassment claims against the talk show host.

Despite a mass exodus from at least 70 advertisers, O'Reilly's show remained the undisputed top cable news program. O'Reilly announced his current vacation on air and said he'd return April 24.

O'Reilly had been at the network since its start-up days ... creating what was then called "The O'Reilly Report" in 1996.

Donald Trump Disses Tom Brady ... Doesn't Mention QB's Name

4/19/2017 11:22 AM PDT
Breaking News

Seems Donald Trump isn't happy with Tom Brady -- because he didn't mention the QB's name ONCE at the White House ceremony honoring the New England Patriots.

Of course, Brady did not attend the ceremony, citing "personal family matters" -- shocking considering the two were supposedly friends.

Donald Trump has sung Brady's praises publicly on numerous occasions, saying he is the greatest QB who ever lived -- so for him to go radio silent during the ceremony sends a strong message ... he's pissed.

By the way, Trump shouted out a bunch of Patriots players by name including Danny Amendola, Julian Edelman, Matt Slater, Malcolm Mitchell and Trey Flowers.

Rob Gronkowski Crashes White House Press Briefing 'Need Help?'

4/19/2017 9:50 AM PDT

Rob Gronkowski offered his services to the Trump Administration Wednesday morning -- crashing Sean Spicer's White House briefing to ask if he needed any help!

Of course, Gronk's in town with the rest of the New England Patriots (minus Tom Brady and a few others) to visit President Trump for winning the Super Bowl.

Spicer laughed. The press laughed. And then it was back to Iran.

Meantime, the players who did show up took a photo at the White House along with team owner Robert Kraft and a bunch of their Super Bowl trophies.

Notable players besides Brady who appear to have skipped the 1600 Penn visit ... Danny Amendola, Dont'a HightowerLeGarrette Blount, Martellus Bennett, Devin McCourty, James White, Michael Floyd, Chris Long, Dion Lewis, Patrick Chung, and Malcolm Butler.
