EXCLUSIVE

Ex-San Diego Chargers star Shawne Merriman says the move to L.A. is a BIG DEAL for a bunch of the current players -- including QB Philip Rivers ... because he's just not an "L.A. guy."

Merriman says one of the big issues for Rivers is his whole life is rooted in SD -- "He got 76 kids and they all go to school here."

Shawne says he's confident Philip will be able to get it done on the field -- "He's a football player first" -- but the point is ... relocation is a bitch for anyone with a family, no matter the career.

(Ex-) Bolts fan Dan Wellington decided to go all Bieber on the team Wednesday night ... firing off about a dozen eggs at Chargers Park.

Check out the vid ... Wellington knows he'll probably get in trouble, but clearly doesn't care.

At least he offers to clean up the mess.

Exclusive Details

The San Diego Chargers are investigating a video that seems to show a stadium security guard masturbating on the sidelines ... just a few feet away from the team's cheerleaders, and we've learned the guard in question has already been fired.

The video showed up on Facebook Monday ... the day after the Chargers played the Raiders in San Diego. The clip shows a guy in a red jacket, repeatedly jerking his hand while in the pocket of his pants.

We checked, and the the jacket he's wearing does match up with other guards -- who work for Elite Security -- in Qualcomm Stadium.

The team hasn't identified the guy in the video, but issued a statement saying ... "We are aware of the disturbing actions of an Elite security staff member at Sunday’s game. We apologize to any fans who may have witnessed the incident."

An official from Elite security tells TMZ the company did its own investigation and has fired the guy.

Antonio Gates Philip Rivers Is SOOOOO Rich ... Doesn't Need Gifts From Me!

11/30/2016 6:20 AM PST
EXCLUSIVE

Antonio Gates is 3 TOUCHDOWNS AWAY from breaking Tony Gonzalez's career TD record for a tight end. So, we had to ask ... are you getting Philip Rivers a gift when you take the crown?!

The short answer -- HELL NO!

And why not? Gates points to the "gift" the Chargers already got the QB last year -- an $84 MILLION contract extension.

Gates says PR is like a brother to him -- and he respects the hell out of the guy -- but there's no sense in dropping a ton of cash on a guy who can buy whatever he wants.

NFL's Antonio Gates START ME IN FANTASY ... Every. Single. Week.

EXCLUSIVE

Don't EVER question Antonio Gates in your fantasy football lineup -- START HIM ... so says the tight end himself.

We got the Chargers legend out in L.A. Tuesday and he scoffed at the idea that anyone would consider sitting him vs. the Jaguars this weekend ... even after a not-so-great Week 1.

There's more ... we also asked how the team is doing after the loss of stud WR Keenan Allen and how the team's responding to the addition of Joey Bosa

Plus, Gates weighs in on Antonio Brown's twerk celebration -- check out the clip.

Eddie George Applauds Joey Bosa's Holdout Some Teams Will Screw You

8/12/2016 10:44 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Eddie George says he COMMENDS fellow Ohio State alum Joey Bosa for holding out from Chargers training camp ... saying the NFL is a business and he MUST look out for numero uno.

Bosa -- the #3 overall pick in the draft -- has been getting serious heat for holding out (some of it from teammates) ... so much so that his mom took to Twitter to stick up for her kid.

But George LIKES that Bosa is taking such a strong stand -- saying some NFL teams will "screw" players if they don't have a strong team in place to fight for them.

As for criticism that Bosa's game will suffer as a result of missing practice, George calls BS -- saying he's a "natural freak" who's got plenty of time to get in football shape.

The lady who locked up the linebacker is Jovi Niicole -- and according to our friends at BSO, she's been quietly connected to the San Diego Chargers star for a couple of months.

0119_Manti_Teo_girlfriend_jove_photosUnclear how they met ... but one thing's for sure -- she's real and she's spectacular.

Of course, Te'o's dating history made national news a few years ago -- when it was revealed he was a victim in a catfishing hoax carried out by a dude pretending to be a woman who seduced Te'o online.

Good times.

1/7/2016 9:05 AM PST
EXCLUSIVE

Raiders, Rams and Chargers fans up in arms about their teams trying to bolt to Los Angeles are looking at this the wrong way ... according to former NFL star Eric Davis.

Davis won a Super Bowl with the 49ers, so he's up on Bay Area fans -- and we asked if Oakland's Raider Nation might jump to the other team in town if the Silver and Black head south again. It's the question millions of fans in St. Louis (who've also been through this before) and San Diego are asking themselves right now.

Well, check out ED's answer ... it might calm nerves in all 3 cities. In a nutshell -- rep your team, not your city.

You buying that?

NFL in L.A. Raiders, Rams & Chargers ... OH MY!!

0104-nfl-bidders

3 NFL teams are suddenly like waiters on the Sunset Strip ... trying to get a break in Hollywood -- the Chargers, Rams and Raiders all filed docs with the league to move to Los Angeles.

The Greater L.A. area's been without pro football since the Rams bolted in 1994, and as expected they're now one of the teams trying to return. Oakland and San Diego's teams also lived up to longtime rumors and filed the same application to play in L.A. ... starting this coming season.

The next step is a league vote -- three quarters of the 32 teams must vote yes to gain approval. No city has 3 franchises, so it's a safe bet at least one wannabe will get denied.

It never rains in Southern California, but now it's pouring NFL squads.
