Katy Perry I'm Proud Of My $25 Mil ... I Smashed the Glass Ceiling!!

5/23/2017 10:20 AM PDT

Katy Perry's $25 million deal to be the lead judge on "American Idol" wasn't just for her -- she says she struck a blow for women everywhere who've been underpaid to do the same job as a man.

Katy was on NYC'S WKTU radio Tuesday and told "Cubby and Carolina Bermudez In the Morning" ... she's proud as hell her fat paycheck is more than "pretty much" any man made before her.

The pop star goes on to give a preview of what kind of judge she's going to be, and said she's the perfect fit for the show at the perfect time.

As we reported ... Perry's getting paid more than most of her big name 'Idol' predecessors. However, she'll need a massive raise before she matches Simon Cowell's reported $45 mil a year.

Joel Embiid Makes Plea For Role On Fave Tv Show ... Only One Problem

5/22/2017 12:25 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

NBA star and all-around awesome guy Joel Embiid has a dream ... a dream to star in his favorite television show, but we at TMZ Sports have found one reason that might not happen ... EVER.

We got Joel in NYC, and asked the pop culture addict what his favorite TV shows are right now ... and that's when the 7'0" monster told us he's hooked on "The Vampire Diaries" on The CW.

He even told us that it's his dream, seriously, to make an appearance on the show -- and hollered at Nina Dobrev to help make it happen!

One issue with your cameo big fella -- 'TVD' got cancelled after 8 seasons last summer and the last episode aired in March ... so yeah, that's not gonna happen.

Cheer up, Joel ... you still got a shot with Rihanna, maybe.

Stephen Colbert Hey Donald, Don't Hurry Back

5/21/2017 7:10 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Stephen Colbert looked super relaxed Saturday in NYC, apparently relieved the Commander in Chief is otherwise occupied.

The talk show king clearly thinks Donald Trump shouldn't rush things along in the Middle East ... favoring an extended trip for the Prez.

Colbert was on his way in to Milk Studios for Vulture Fest, where he sat with Aziz Ansari, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kevin Bacon on a panel to discuss the TV biz.

The good news for Colbert ... wherever in the world Trump is, there's plenty of material.

Geraldo Rivera My Mentor Roger Ailes Made Fox News for Rednecks

5/21/2017 12:20 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Geraldo Rivera thinks Roger Ailes was like a modern-day Robin Hood of sorts, taking news and bringing it to the overlooked rednecks, farmers and others by the millions.

We got Geraldo in NYC Friday, on his way into work at FNC where he told us Roger has left an enduring mark on broadcasting and FNC, despite the scandal.

Geraldo and Ailes were tight ... Geraldo even calls him his mentor. He says Ailes and Rupert Murdoch had a vision to bring a different type of news to people whose only option was "progressive" news.

As for the sexual harassment accusations Ailes was facing ... Geraldo touches on that too.

Ellen DeGeneres Seacrest Hasn't Met a Job He Didn't Like!!!

5/20/2017 7:00 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Ellen DeGeneres made one thing clear and another thing unclear ... Ryan Seacrest is a workaholic who may or may not become the host of the "American Idol" reboot.

Ellen and wife Portia de Rossi were leaving Crossroads Kitchen in WeHo Friday when our photog connected the dots, knowing that Seacrest was inside the restaurant at the same time. Ellen and Seacrest are tight, so it's not a big leap to conclude the 2 broke vegan bread together.

So the questions ... Is she open to an "Idol" gig? Did Seacrest say he was open? Ellen is open to answer only one of those questions.

BTW ... take it to the bank. Seacrest's gonna be the host.

Anderson Cooper Tells President's Supporter You'd Even Defend a Trump Dump

5/19/2017 6:42 PM PDT

Anderson Cooper used a little toilet humor with a well-known supporter of Donald Trump ... saying the guy who probably back the prez dropping a deuce in public.

Cooper was interviewing Jeffrey Lord about Trump's Oval Office convos with Russian diplomats when he interrupted to drop a #2 bomb. Lord's momentarily shocked look was priceless.

Cheap laugh, sure ... but poop jokes always kill. Cooper later apologized, and commended Lord for defending Trump no matter what.

See ... someone's got your back, Mr. President.

X-Pac Takes Lie Detector Test ... Over Meth Arrest

5/19/2017 6:26 AM PDT
Breaking News

WWE legend X-Pac -- real name Sean Waltman -- is so determined to prove he's not a meth dealer, he took a lie detector test and passed with flying colors ... but there's a catch.

We broke the story, X-Pac was arrested at LAX on April 29 after drug dogs found pills in his luggage that officials believed to meth. He was booked for possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

X-Pac previously claimed the pills were NOT meth, but instead a non-meth medicine used to treat a yeast infection.

To prove his story, X-Pac invited polygraph examiner Rachel Levi to his show, "X-Pac 12360," on Afterbuzz TV to put him through the ringer.

The problem for X-Pac ... the science behind polygraph tests is widely disputed and the results are not admissible in court.

So, while it's cool to see X-Pac pass, he's definitely not out of the woods legally and still has a battle ahead of him. Of course, the whole point will be moot if investigators test the pills and they REALLY aren't meth.

Abby Lee Miller Gettin' Paid Before Prison ... Judge Grants TV Gig Travel

5/18/2017 3:46 PM PDT

Abby Lee Miller's not letting her upcoming prison stint stop her from doing what she does best -- cash TV paychecks.

A judge granted Abby permission to travel from L.A. to NYC this week for 3 paid TV appearances. According to docs, all 3 shows booked her after she was sentenced to a year and one day in prison for fraud.

A federal judge approved her travel, but she must be back on the West Coast by May 20. The shows are scheduled to tape Thursday and Friday. It's still unclear when Abby will begin doing her time.

As you'll recall ... Miller was ordered to pay $160,000 in fines along with the prison sentence.

5/18/2017 8:51 AM PDT
Breaking News

Another amazing moment from Tim Tebow -- this time, he surprised an "inspirational" special needs fan by asking her to slow dance on "The Tonight Show."

The whole thing is great ... Tebow was talking to Jimmy Fallon about his annual "Night to Shine" event (a prom-style event for special needs kids all over the world) when he pulled a fan out of the crowd!

Turns out the fan is Judy Adams -- who had invited Tim to be her date to the event, but a travel conflict kept Tebow from accepting her offer.

So he made it up to her on "The Tonight Show"  with some help from Fallon -- and it's awesome.

Katy wasn't there for the big reveal, but said in a statement she was "honored and thrilled to be the first judge bringing back the American Idol tradition of making dreams come true."

The network didn't have anything else to say about its 'Idol' reboot. Our sources say it's still a near certainty Ryan Seacrest will host. Zippo on the other 2 judges too.

Stephen Colbert Dear Trump, Please Resign ... On Heels of Intel Leak

5/16/2017 7:59 AM PDT

Stephen Colbert flat-out called for President Trump's resignation ... the prez admittedly shared classified intel about ISIS with Russian diplomats.

Colbert obliterated Trump during his Monday night monologue after the Washington Post reported the prez had leaked the info. Tuesday morning, Trump tweeted he had "the absolute right" to do so.

The 'Late Show' host disagrees, strongly, but did find a silver lining ... "The good news: Trump found the leaker."

The Trump-Colbert feud -- the gift that keeps on giving.
