Some guys might hold a grudge if another man ogled their woman on national television, but Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron says things between him and legendary announcer Brent Musburger are just fine.
You may remember ... during the national championship game last month, Musburger was quite taken with Katherine Webb -- who is AJ's girlfriend and Miss Alabama. Webb took it all in stride and Musburger told us at the time he felt he did nothing wrong ... but the network issued an apology anyway.
Our photog caught up with McCarron yesterday in New Orleans. He's headed to the Super Bowl (and rooting for the Ravens, FYI) and says has no hard feelings toward Brent and the two are "good friends."
BCS announcer Brent Musburger stands by the fire in his 73-year-old loins -- telling TMZ, he's NOT SORRY for showering Miss Alabama USA Katherine Webb with compliments during the big game between Alabama and Notre Dame ... because he didn't do anything wrong.
Musburger was arriving at the airport in Palm Beach, Florida Tuesday when we asked if he thinks his comments about QB A.J. McCarron's GF were inappropriate -- and Musburger made it clear ... the answer is NO.
In fact, it was pretty obvious Brent has a beef with ESPN for issuing an apology for the whole thing -- but he still issued a pretty politically correct statement about the Worldwide Leader.
"Individuals say what individuals say. And corporations do what corporations do," Musburger said ... adding, "Obviously, they felt it was the right thing for them to do."
In case you missed the broadcast last week -- Musburger unleashed a barrage of compliments at Webb when the camera cut to her in the stands, ogling her for a good 30 seconds ... and calling her "beautiful" and "lovely" ... comments people criticized as "creepy."
Katherine Webb -- the GF of Alabama star QB A.J. McCarron -- says ESPN had no reason to issue an apology for Brent Musburger's televised swooning during the BCS Championship game ... because the comments were nothing but flattering.
Webb appeared on "Today" moments ago and stood up for the 73-year-old --saying, “I think the media has been really unfair to [Musburger]."
She added, "If he would’ve said something along the line that we were hot or sexy or made any derogatory statements like that, I think that would’ve been a little bit different, but the fact that he said that we were beautiful and gorgeous, I don’t see why any woman wouldn’t be flattered by that."
ESPN later issued an apology for Brent's comments -- but Webb says, "I don’t think it was needed, honestly. Of course, I appreciate it, but at the same time, I don’t think that I needed an apology.’’
Brent Musburger's best call of the BCS Championship was pointing out smoking hot Katherine Webb in the crowd. Although he probably coulda played it a little cooler -- ok, a lot cooler!

If you watched last night's BCS championship game ... you know announcer Brent Musburger was a little OBSESSED with AJ McCarron's super hot GF Katherine Webb (and rightfully so).
But despite some serious criticism following the game (people were calling him "creepy") ... Webb tells TMZ she was actually "flattered" by her 73-year-old admirer.
After hearing about Musburger's barrage of compliments (he encouraged kids to learn how to play QB so they could also score chicks like Webb) ... Katherine tells us, "I laughed hysterically. I was flattered ... and slightly embarrassed ... but I thought it was the funniest thing ever. I never expected that."
She adds, "I've been reading on Twitter that Musburger had backlash that he's 'Creepy' ... if I were to see him I would say, 'I don’t think you're creepy at all!'"
Webb tells us the exposure has been great for her social media presence -- "I had 2,300 followers on Twitter yesterday ... in the past 24 hours, I have gained over 125,000."
