Chace Crawford just won a big victory in a small Texas town, after a judge dismissed his marijuana possession case.

Chace was arrested in June, 2010 in Plano, Texas, after cops found an unlit joint in a car in which he was a passenger.

As TMZ first reported ... Chace cut a deal with prosecutors, in which the charge would be dismissed if he stayed clean for one year and performed community service.

We've learned the judge just dismissed the case, after Chace's lawyer presented evidence his client performed 80 hours of community service in Texas, working in a hospital and a church.

Case closed.

TMZ has learned ... Chace Crawford made a deal in his marijuana possession case in Texas, and if he's a good boy for the next year, the case will disappear and Chace's record will be squeaky clean.


Sources tell us Chace --  who was busted in Plano, TX last June after cops found a joint in a car in which he was sitting -- has agreed to a pretrial diversion program.  Translation -- if he meets certain conditions in the next 12 months, the case will be dismissed and there will be no criminal record.

As for the conditions ...

-- He can't be arrested or engage in any criminal conduct for a year
-- He must perform 24 hours of community service
-- He must report to a probation officer once a month

We're told Chace will perform his community service in the middle of the summer.

Seriously, one joint in a car?

Tony Romo didn't get the memo about all the celeb breakups this week -- instead the Dallas' Cowboys QB got engaged to his girlfriend Candice Crawford.



Romo reportedly popped the question while celebrating Candice's 24th birthday on Thursday.

Candice is Chace Crawford's younger sister and she's a sports reporter for KDAF ... the CW station in Dallas which, appropriately, first reported the engagement.

Romo is the second Jessica Simpson ex to put a ring on it recently.

"Gossip Girl" star Chace Crawford rolled into a McKinney, Texas courthouse just moments ago -- where a judge will formally charge the actor for allegedly having an unlit joint in a car he was sitting in.


Chace was technically charged earlier this month -- but Texas law requires the actor to appear in court so the judge can make it official. Chace is facing one misdemeanor count of weed possession.

TMZ broke the story -- Chace was busted in a Plano, TX parking lot after cops claim they found one unlit joint in the car he was in with a friend.

If convicted, Chace could face up to 6 months behind bars.

UPDATE 8:15 AM PT: Nothing happened in court today. Chace will not have to show up for the next court appearance, scheduled for August 20.

TMZ has learned "Gossip Girl" star Chace Crawford has now been charged with one misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana.

TMZ broke the story ... Crawford was arrested in Plano, Texas last Friday after cops found an unlit joint in a car he was sitting in with a friend.

If convicted, Crawford faces a maximum of six months behind bars.

Chace Crawford's marijuana drama has reached the District Attorney in Collin County, Texas -- which will now decide whether or not to press charges against the "Gossip Girl" star following his pot bust last week.

As we first reported, Chace was arrested on June 4 outside of a pub in Plano, TX after cops say the actor was in possession of weed.

Sources say officers found one unlit joint inside of a car Chace was sitting in with a friend.

Chace was booked on one count of possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana -- a misdemeanor.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of 6 months in jail.
