Chris Rock violently attacked a journalist's camera in January -- after the guy tried to trap Rock with a question about the comedian's controversial stance on the Tea Party -- and the intense footage has just surfaced.
In case you didn't know -- Rock went OFF on the TP last year in an Esquire interview, claiming, "When I see the Tea Party and all this stuff, it actually feels like racism’s almost over. Because this is the last -- this is the act up before the sleep. They’re going crazy. They’re insane."
So conservative writer
Jason Mattera decided to question Rock about his opinion at the Sundance Film Festival in January -- blindsiding Rock with a TP question ... asking, "When you said the Tea Party was insane and racist ..."
But before he could finish his question, Rock tried to walk away. When he discovered his path was blocked by other people, Rock turned around and grabbed Mattera's camera and wrestled it to the ground.
A rep for Chris says the actor's attorney is looking into the video.

Question is ...
Chris Rock's rep tells TMZ a judge has just cleared the way for Rock to release his movie -- "
Good Hair" -- tomorrow.
Regina Kimbell has sued Rock, claiming he ripped off her documentary, "
My Nappy Roots." She went into court to get a temporary restraining order but the judge shut her down today.
So the show will go on.
Chris Rock's documentary about African-American hairstyles is as phony as the extensions on Paris Hilton's head, according to a new lawsuit.
Regina Kimbell says she showed Chris her 2005 documentary, "
My Nappy Roots," on the set of his TV series, "
Everybody Hates Chris," back in 2007. Then, according to the suit filed in U.S. District Court in downtown L.A., he stole the idea for his documentary, "
Good Hair," which will open on Friday.
Kimbell's film features celebs who discuss styles like the conk, the Afro, the Jheri curl and dreadlocks. Rock's film also uses celebs to look at the efforts black women use to get that European look.
Kimbel wants no less than $5 mil in damages.
Tony Rock --
Chris Rock's little brother -- pled guilty yesterday in L.A. County Criminal Court to DUI.

"
How much for one balloon?"
Tony Rock made his second appearance in front of a TMZ camera yesterday outside a Hollywood club. The first appearance was hours before, after getting sprung from the hoosegow following an arrest
for DUI the night before.

Tony had mentioned something about drinking a bottle of Patron and then flooring it on the 101. He was definitely drinking, but at least last night, he wasn't driving. Baby steps.

Internet reports are swirling that Chris Rock's wife Malaak hit a police officer this morning in New York. Not so, NYPD tells TMZ.
Media Take Out had reported earlier today that Mrs. Rock sideswiped an traffic officer's hand with her car's side mirror. We're told that's not the case. Around 10:00 AM this morning Mrs. Rock was at the intersection of Canal and Bowery in Manhattan. Malaak was given a summons for failing to comply with a lawful order, because a traffic officer on foot directed her to go straight and she instead made a right turn.
It was a minor incident and there was no confrontation. Don't believe everything you read, folks!
Actor-turned-director Ben Affleck was in New York City when some Cleveland Indian fans wanted his John Hancock. Lucky for them, Ben's BoSox won the game, dodging elimination from the playoffs.
Also in New York: Russell Crowe and wife Danielle Spencer, Rebecca Romijn and comedian Chris Rock.
In L.A., Jessica Alba, Lisa Rinna, Nicollette Sheridan and Eva Longoria made an appearance at the Padres Contra el Cancer charity event.
All this and more in today's "Cleveland rocks" edition of Star Catcher.
Chris Rock is under fire from a woman who claims he's her 13-year-old baby's daddy, but cops say the woman behind the allegations has been full of s**t for years.

TMZ has learned that 36-year-old Kali Bowyer, who Rock never denied having a fling with several years before he met wife Malaak, has an extensive criminal past riddled with numerous bizarre police encounters, and a penchant for telling wild stories. According to a thick stack of government documents obtained by TMZ, Bowyer was convicted of DUI in Georgia, charged with theft by deception last summer, and is facing charges of running an elaborate cell phone scam.
And it doesn't end there! In the last two years, more than ten incident reports detail some truly strange encounters with police, including one in which cops say she claimed to have been held at gunpoint and forced to "ingest some white powder," a tale which her own son contradicted under questioning. Bad checks, domestic disturbances, and several veracity-questionable incidents left police scratching their heads.
Bowyer first popped up ten years ago when the boy in question was 3-years-old, claiming that Rock was the dad, but then, we're told, she disappeared after Rock agreed to a DNA test. Though she claims that the comedian's the dad, Bowyer oddly didn't list Rock on the birth certificate.
Yesterday, Rock indicated that he would still take a DNA test to determine paternity, even offering to help support the child if he is, in fact, the dad.
