Dog made similar proclamations a few months back when he was a guest on "Lopez Tonight." He eventually decided against pursuing Randy and wife Evi.

The Quaids have been hanging out north of the border lately. They've had warrants issued for their arrest several times this year, stemming from a case in Santa Barbara where the Quaids are accused of burglary after they were found allegedly living in a home illegally.

The great news is Randy and Evi Quaid's innocent victim -- their dog Doji -- was spared from a potentially fatal stay at a Canadian dog shelter ... the less great news is Randy and Evi picked him up.



The seemingly always-on-the-run Quaids were reunited with Doji when they freed him, legally, from the shelter in Vancouver -- right after they themselves were released from an immigration holding facility.

As we first reported, Doji had been locked up at the shelter -- where he could have been put to sleep -- ever since last week when his owners got busted on an outstanding warrant for a felony burglary arrest in Santa Barbara.

No word if Doji's retained legal representation, but we're guessing counselor's advice would be, "Run!"

Evi and Randy Quaid were just released from custody in Vancouver ... after officials learned Evi's father may have been born on Canadian soil.



The two were being held on an active warrant out of Santa Barbara stemming from an alleged squatting incident at a property they once owned.

The decision to release the couple was made after a hearing with the Immigration and Refugee Board. Evi received an "unconditional release" in light of the information regarding her father's birthplace ... and Randy was released after posting a $10,000 bond.

Randy may be required to attend another hearing before he's permanently off the hook.

But the most important part -- the two will be reunited with their cute little doggie in just a matter of hours.

Doji the doggie is about to escape the clutches of death -- TMZ has learned a friend of Evi and Randy Quaid has contacted the City of Vancouver in an effort to recover the innocent pooch from a shelter in Canada. 



As we first reported, Doji was placed in an animal shelter after Evi and Randy were arrested in Canada last week on an outstanding warrant in Santa Barbara ... and under Vancouver law, dogs that go unclaimed after several days for more than a week could be put to sleep.

But a rep for the city of Vancouver tells us they received a call today from someone on behalf of the Quaids who informed them that someone will be "coming to the shelter in the next couple of days to pick up the dog."

Doji seems to be holding up well -- we're told, "The dog is in very good health."

There was a third Quaid in the car when Evi and Randy were arrested in Canada last week ... their beloved pooch Doji ... and TMZ has learned he could pay for his master's sins ... with his life.



While Evi and Randy are still "in detention" after being nabbed on an active arrest warrant ... we've learned Doji has been placed in an animal shelter in Vancouver for the time being.

But Doji's days could be numbered -- because according to Vancouver law, any dog that has been impounded for more than 72 hours becomes city property ... and the pound keeper is then given the authority to "destroy, or sell by auction or private sale, an impounded dog."

We spoke to someone at Animal Control in Vancouver who told us they "make every effort to not put the dogs to sleep" ... and generally try to find the animals a home through adoption.

Still, look at this face (the one on the left) ... someone better act fast.

Canadian police will release Randy and Evi Quaid -- once they post a cash bond of $10,000 CAN -- but they're not free to leave the Great White North ... not without checking in with officials first.



Canada's Immigration and Refugee Board just ruled on the Quaid's release, scheduled their next hearing -- for Thursday -- and slapped some strict travel rules on them ... such as reporting weekly to the Canada Border Services Agency if they leave the country.

A spokesperson for the Immigration and Refugee Board in Canada told CTV the couple is due to appear at a detention hearing this afternoon in Vancouver.

As we previously reported, a Santa Barbara judge issued $50,000 warrants on Monday for the arrests of Randy and his wife Evi Quaid after they failed to show up in court. The Quaids were charged with burglary after they were found allegedly living in a home illegally last month.

A judge in Santa Barbara issued bench warrants for Randy and Evi Quaid today after the infamous couple failed to show up for a court hearing in their felony burglary case.


The Santa Barbara District Attorney's Office tells us a $50,000 warrant was issued for each of them.

As we previously reported, the Quaids were found allegedly living in a home illegally -- a house they once owned -- and were charged with felony residential burglary and entering a noncommercial building without consent, a misdemeanor.

The case will be called again on October 26.

TMZ has obtained audio of Randy and Evi Quaid's latest arrest -- and the blood curdling screams make it easy to understand why Evi got charged with resisting arrest.


The Quaids were busted on Saturday when they were discovered allegedly living in a home they had sold several years ago. During the arrest, Animal Control came to take care of the Quaids' dog, Doji -- and that didn't sit well with Evi ... at all.

On the tape she can be heard screaming and crying incessantly while an officer tries to calm her down.
