Gayle King no longer has to worry about that pesky matchmaker lawsuit -- because a judge in California agreed with her side of things ... and tossed the lawsuit out.
As TMZ first reported, King was sued last year by a matchmaker named Orly Hadida, who claimed she rendered her services to King for free in exchange for an appearance on Oprah Winfrey's show (which never happened).
But King fought back, claiming California law states that oral contracts -- which is what Orly claims they had -- involving "dating services" are void and unenforceable.
A judge agreed, ruling earlier this month in King's favor and dismissing Hadida's lawsuit.
Gayle King wants the lawsuit filed against her by a prominent matchmaker thrown out of court -- and it's all because she says she never signed on the dotted line.
As TMZ first reported, King was suedin September by Orly the Matchmaker ... who claimed Gayle promised to get her on "Oprah" in return for her matchmaking service. Orly claims she waived her $500,000 fee and Gayle went on several dates ... but never lived up to her Oprah promise.
According to docs filed in federal court in California this week, King says the entire lawsuit has no merit because California law states that oral contracts -- which is what Orly claims they had -- involving "dating services" are void and unenforceable.
A hearing on King's motion to dismiss is scheduled for January 9, 2012.

So if you had any doubt about whether Gayle King is a lesbian scratch that, because Gayle is being sued by a famous matchmaker who claims she hooked Gayle up with a bunch of "attractive, fit, and wealthy men," but Gayle reneged on her promise to put her on "Oprah."
Orly Hadida -- aka Orly the Matchmaker -- claims 2 years ago she made a deal with Gayle to provide her with matchmaking services. According to the lawsuit, Orly waived her $500,000 fee, and in return Gayle promised to get Orly a guest spot on "Oprah."
Orly alleges she spent hundreds of hours hooking Gayle up with 5 men -- all fabulous. Orly claims Gayle went on several dates with more than one of the men.
According to the lawsuit, back in May Orly panicked, realizing Oprah's show was coming to a quick end. So she says she sent Gayle an email, saying since she clearly wasn't going to appear on Oprah she wanted to get paid.
Oprah Winfrey isn't going to cut a huge check to her newly discovered half-sister Patricia just because they're related ... at least not yet ... because Gayle King says "that isn't how Oprah operates."
Gayle was out in New York City last night, where she told us Oprah and Patricia were off to "a really good start ... and they're both taking it very slow."
Gayle says Patricia earned serious points by not exploiting the fact that she was Oprah's half-sister -- despite knowing about the relationship since 2007.
Oprah Winfrey may not be a lesbian -- but the chick who's gonna play the talk show host in a brand new sex tape sure is.
Just as soon as the real Oprah wiped away her tears of endearment for her bestest non-lesbianic gal pal Gayle King during a Barbara Walters interview this week ... Hustler had already locked down a couple of O and G not-really-lookalikes for an XXX re-imagining of their friendship.
FYI -- the chick on the left (Misty Stone) is playing Oprah ... and the one on the right (Bella Moretti) is Gayle.
The XXX flick -- entitled "Untrue Hollywood Stories: Oprah" -- is being released in January -- which sucks ... because it would have made one hell of a stocking stuff her.
They fish together ... they camp together ... they shack up together .... but Oprah's BFF Gayle King still insists the famous lesbian rumors are purely "ridiculous."
Gayle and her daughter Kirby hit the Museum of Modern Art in NYC last night -- when she told our photog that she's never put out a gay vibe with the famous talk show host ... because "there isn't one."

A fellow camper snapped these pics of O and Gayle during their camping expedition a few weeks back. And even though they were surrounded by a camera crew for Oprah's show, O took it upon herself to scramble up some eggs for breakfast ... in her favorite pair of PJs.
