We're told the idea came together just two weeks ago ... when the guys were performing in Tokyo with a Japanese pop star named A.I.
The brothers had such a good time on stage together ... that when the idea of a tour came up, they all jumped at the opportunity!
Plus, the guys were so impressed with A.I., they've invited her to join them on the road.
Sources tell us the Jacksons are hoping to get the tour launched by next month -- but we're told their team is still trying to nail down the schedule ... so it could be pushed back by a few weeks.
So far, we're told Jermaine will not be joining the rest of the family ... but we're guessing he could change his mind ... if the price is right.
Michael Jackson's parents -- along with La Toya, Jermaine and Randy -- are currently scrambling to get to the L.A. County Courthouse after they were notified the jury had reached a verdict in the Conrad Murray manslaughter case.

We're told the family is "anxious."
MJ's kids are staying at home with other family members. We're told they were instructed NOT to watch the verdict live -- so Katherine could break the news herself when she got home.
The Jackson family is NOT inside the courtroom this morning ... as they have been for most of the Conrad Murray manslaughter trial ... but sources tell TMZ -- they WILL be when the verdict is read.
Sources close to the family tell TMZ ... the family is expected to get a 2-hour heads up when the jury is ready to present their verdict to the judge ... at which point, Katherine, Jermaine, La Toya and the rest of the crew will head on down to the courthouse.

The lawyer who successfully defended Michael Jackson against child molestation charges tells TMZ ... Jermaine Jackson's claim of a plan for Michael to bolt the country if convicted would have been for nothing ... because MJ never would have had the chance to flee even if he wanted to.
Tom Mesereau tells us ... Santa Barbara Police told him several years after the trial that they were extremely concerned about possible violence if MJ was convicted. Mesereau says the cops were particularity concerned about the Nation of Islam.
As a result of those concerns, Mesereau says he was told if Michael had been convicted, he would immediately have been taken into custody and helicoptered to a prison facility in Lompoc, CA.
The upshot -- there would have been no opportunity for escape.
But more fundamentally, Mesereau says Jackson never talked about fleeing and says he obeyed the law throughout the trial.
Jermaine Jackson says his family had a plan in place to help his brother Michael flee the country ... if MJ had been found guilty of child molestation back in 2005.
JJ told the London Times the plan was for Michael to head to Bahrain, which does not have an extradition treaty with the U.S.
He said a plane was on call to whisk Michael away if need be ... but MJ knew nothing about the plan. He says he thought the family could have convinced Michael to go along with it.
Jermaine told the paper, "If they were going to sit and crucify my brother for something that he didn't do, America deserves us not to come back here."
Jermaine Jackson is shooting a BRAND NEW music video for the Jackson 5 song "Blame it on the Boogie" -- problem is, he's missing four Jacksons ... and it's not 1978 anymore.
The 56-year-old was putting the video together earlier this week in Venice, CA.
FUN FACT: When "Boogie" came out in 1978, Jermaine wasn't even in the band anymore ... he had been replaced by his brother Randy.

Jermaine just went on a Twitter rant, claiming Global Live is using his mom. And, he's particularly pissed at Global Live for its initial decision to have KISS perform, given that Gene Simmons has publicly accused MJ of being a hardcore child molester.
Jermaine tweeted, "I'm appalled as all fans that Global Live booked an artist like KISS after all Gene Simmons had said about Michael. It doesn't matter KISS' invitation is revoked. This mishandling reinforces my view that this promoter is getting it all wrong..."
Michael Jackson's children have decided they want to fly to Wales to catch the upcoming MJ Tribute Concert in person ... despite the fact they're getting pushback from two of their famous uncles.
An MJ family rep tells us, "Paris, Blanket and Prince have been asked to attend the MJ Tribute in Wales and they have decided to go."
The rep adds, "They are extremely excited and they're hoping they will have the opportunity to contribute in some way by making a speech. Nothing has been set in stone yet for how they can help, but they really hope they can. "
However, we're told, "Jermaine and Randy are fighting it."
