One of the men arrested in connection with an alleged plot to kidnap and murder soul singer Joss Stone pled "not guilty" this morning.

As TMZ previously reported, Kevin Liverpool and his alleged accomplice Junior Bradshaw were arrested back in June near Stone's property outside London. After searching their car, police claim to have found a samurai sword, rope, and a body bag ... as well as maps and aerial photos of Stone's house.

The men were charged with conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit robbery, and conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.

Bradshaw has yet to enter a plea. Both men were ordered to be kept under lock and key until their trial next year.

Now that the men have been charged with the crimes -- it's VERY likely the cops know who the potential target was ... and all signs point to Joss.

Plus -- law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... UK reports about the items the men had on them at the time of arrest (swords, rope, body bag, map of Stone's home) -- are "not widely inaccurate."

The suspects -- both in their 30s -- are scheduled to appear in front of a judge tomorrow.

Two men are under arrest for allegedly conspiring to rob and murder someone -- and it looks like that "someone" may be Joss Stone.



The official statements do not name Stone as the target, but the details all focus on the proximity of the men to Stone's home in Cullompton, England.

The Sun newspaper reports the men had swords, rope and a body bag, as well as maps and aerial photos of Stone's property.  Police have not confirmed the reports.

Stone's reps say the singer is aware of the situation but would not say if she was at home at the time the men were arrested near her property.

The 2 men are being questioned at a police station, but they have not been charged.

Interesting side note ... Joss' friends include Prince William and Prince Harry, and she was at William and Kate's wedding.

UPDATE: Joss just released a statement saying, "I'd like to thank everyone for their concern but I'm absolutely fine and getting on with life as normal while the police continue with their enquiries.”

Getting the heck out of dodge at LAX were Jenna Jameson and Tito Ortiz, as well as Eva Long-bore-ia, who, despite flattery from our photog, didn't say a word.

A very purple haired Joss Stone was at the Ivy yesterday, showing off a couple of new fashion accessories -- a pair of forearm crutches!


TMZ was outside the paparazzi packed eatery as Stone attempted to get to her car, slowly hobbling down the front steps as fans and photogs closed in on her. Despite the shaky walking sticks, Joss was in a surprisingly good mood, smiling, posing for photos and signing autographs she made it to her car.

The crutches don't appear to be affecting her touring schedule either -- none of Stone's upcoming concert dates have been called off -- and she's scheduled for The Greek in L.A. next week.

Joss Stone recently canned her mother as her manager, but the 19-year-old may be in over her head by trying to handle her career by herself. A TMZ source tells us that Joss "has been much more flakey lately since her mother was taken out of the loop."

Stone recently canceled at the last minute on several interviews, blaming a case of bronchitis. A TMZ staffer attended her concert at the House of Blues in Los Angeles last night, reporting that Joss was "Unbelievable! She did have a rattling sound and coughed every so often, but her performance couldn't have been better."

Joss proved her performance skills, but it's unknown if she'll be able to cope with the business side without mom.

When it comes fashion and leading the trends, celebrities have always been ahead of the game. With stars getting first pick at designer duds, and able to spend ridiculous amounts of money that normal people save for things like rent, it makes sense that stars are ahead of the curve.
