Michael Douglas just dropped some incredible news about his battle with throat cancer -- telling
Matt Lauer, "The tumor is gone."

Douglas appeared on "Today" this morning and explained that he'll have to get checked out "on a monthly basis now to maintain."
But the good news didn't stop there -- Michael noted that he's already gained back 12 of the 32 pounds he lost during the frightening ordeal ... and is "eating like a pig."
Michael Douglas and
Catherine Zeta-Jones took their two kids today on the Flight of the Hippogriff roller coaster as part of the
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort.

According to the resort, they also sampled Butterbeer, got fitted for wands at Ollivanders and toured Hogwarts Castle.
You're only as old as you feel.
Looking cool, calm and collected
-- Michael Douglas rolled through NYC today ... the first time we've seen him in public since he announced he was battling throat cancer.
Michael Douglas has been in the limelight for decades -- but you wouldn't think so looking at him today.

Here is the the 42 year-old version in a film editing bay in 1986 (left) and the 65 year-old version at red carpet event earlier this summer (right).
For Michael -- looking good is a "Basic Instinct."
Michael Douglas has a new best friend -- the random dude who hit him up for cash
and a movie deal outside
Mastro's Steakhouse.

Michael hooked the guy up in a big way.
Gordon Gekko would not be proud.
For a man whose son will spend the next 5 years behind bars,
Michael Douglas is still incredibly optimistic -- claiming Cameron's experience in prison could ultimately save his life.

In an interview with "Today," Douglas says the sentence Cameron received for his role in a major drug dealing operation was "adequate" -- and claimed that if his son wasn't in the big house, he'd end up dead.
Michael added Cameron hasn't been sober for this long "since he was 13 years old."
Michael Douglas' son Cameron was just sentenced to five years in prison -- for his role in a major drug dealing operation.
Cameron Douglas -- along with his father and his mother Diandra -- was present in federal court in Manhattan today when the judge fired off the sentence.
Along with the prison time, Cameron was ordered to pay $25,000 in fines and must serve 450 hours of community service. Once he's out of the joint, Cameron is also required to spend an additional 5 years in a supervised release program.
Back in January, Cameron pled guilty to dealing large amounts of methamphetamine and cocaine.
Michael Douglas just arrived at Manhattan Federal Court in New York, where his son
Cameron is about to be sentenced after pleading guilty to serious drug charges.

In a letter Michael wrote to the judge in the case, he asked that his son be shown mercy by saying, "I don't want to see him break." Cameron's mom,
Diandra Douglas, entered court right after Michael.
Stay tuned ... we'll let you know what happens inside.
Michael Douglas' son Cameron will be stuck behind bars until he's sentenced for drug charges, after a judge shot down his bid for momentary freedom today in court.
Cameron has been locked up since last year, when his girlfriend smuggled him heroin while he was under house arrest awaiting trial.
Douglas has since pled guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and one count of possession of heroin.
Today in Federal Court in Manhattan, Cameron asked the judge to let him bail out so he could be transferred to a rehabilitation center.
The judge ruled Cameron was more likely to relapse if he was let out, and denied his bail.
Cameron is due back in court on April 14.

We can't for the life of us figure out why the producers of the film "The Beautiful Outsiders" would drop
Cameron Douglas from the movie as both an actor and associate producer.
Unless of course it's the whole "could face life in prison on charges of selling meth" thing.
Whatever the reason, Andrew Jones, the director and producer of the film, released a statement today saying Douglas is done with the project, saying, "The serious nature of the allegations means it is highly unlikely that Cameron would be able to travel, so it would be impossible for him to be in the UK for filming. And with charges of this nature hanging over for him, it would be very difficult for us to get insurance for him."
Ahhhhhhhh, so it
is the whole "could face life in prison on charges of selling meth" thing.
Douglas faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum period of life.

The DEA claims
Michael Douglas' son
Cameron is a big time
crystal meth dealer -- one who moved "pounds" of the drug since 2006.
According to his federal complaint filed in New York, DEA agents claim they ran a 3-year investigation, proving the 30-year-old actor sold "multiple pounds" of crystal meth to several people -- many of whom are now cooperating in the prosecution of Douglas.
All three witnesses mentioned in the document have pled guilty to narcotics violations. They are cooperating in the hopes of receiving a reduced sentence.
Douglas has been charged with one count of possession with the intent to distribute 500 grams or more of crystal meth and one count of possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of "Ice" -- which is the purest form of meth.
The DEA further alleges that Cameron deposited and withdrew tens of thousands of dollars in cash from the drug deals.
According to the indictment, Douglas was set up in New York after agents ran a sting operation-- in which they caught Douglas accepting $15,000 in cash in exchange for a promise to deliver a half pound of crystal meth.
Douglas later followed up with the drug buyer and had the following conversation, using drug code:
Buyer: "The bath salts are fabulous! Thank you so much."
Douglas: "Yeah, I thought you would like them my friend ... I was so excited for you to take a bath and see for yourself."
The docs say the sting hauled in somewhere around 215.2 grams of "ice."
If convicted on all counts, Douglas faces 10 years to life in prison.
