Looks like Paul McCartney's title as world's richest entertainer is safe ... 'cause Bono says his stake in Facebook will NOT push him into the number one spot.
Bono was in D.C. this morning to attend a fundraiser for President Obama ... when a Washington Times photog asked about reports that the U2 frontman's $90 million investment into Mark Zuckerberg's social network will be worth $1.5 billion by the end of the day ... making him the richest rocker on Earth.
FYI -- It's been widely reported that Bono's investment company, Elevation Partners, bought up 2.3% of the company in 2009.
But Bono didn't appear too stoked about it ... in fact, he cast doubt on the entire story.
Bono will no longer breathe Paul McCartney's fumes in the money department ... by the close of trading today, he will become the richest rocker in the world, courtesy of Mark Zuckerberg and company.
Bono owns 2.3 percent of Facebook shares, through his investment group, Elevation Partners. The investment will be worth an estimated $1.5 billion by 4 PM ET -- not bad for a $90 million investment back in 2009.
McCartney's fortune is estimated at just a skosh over $1 billion, so Bono will be leaving the surviving Beatle in the dust.
If you're Bono, it truly is a beautiful day ... if you're into money.
Paul McCartney and his wife Nancy Shevell just swung by the Beverly Hilton hotel to lay flowers at a makeshift memorial for Whitney Houston ... and TMZ has the pics.
Paul and Nancy dropped a bouquet of yellow roses at the scene, shook hands with some of Whitney's fans at the memorial and talked about how much they loved the late singer.
We're told the fans tried to compliment Paul on his performance at the Grammy Awards last night ... but Paul brushed off the praise ... insisting, "This is about Whitney, not me."
We can't find any evidence that Paul and Whitney ever sang together ... but clearly, the Beatles legend had a respect for her work.
Five months after getting engaged, Paul McCartney walked down the aisle today with his trucking-heir girlfriend from Jersey -- the famed Beatles singer's third marriage.
Paul and 51-year-old Nancy Shevell -- daughter of a New Jersey trucking magnate -- met in the Hamptons in 2007.
The ceremony took place at Marylebone Town Hall in central London -- the same place McCartney married his first wife, Linda, in 1969. Linda died of breast cancer in 1998.
McCartney's second marriage to model Heather Mills ended in divorce in 2008 -- after only 4 years.
The ridiculous $650k engagement rock Paul McCartney
gave Nancy Shevell raises a good question -- why drop a fortune on a piece of jewelry?? Incredibly, one TMZ staffer actually has a reasonable answer! Kinda ...

Heather Mills' ex-publicist has filed a lawsuit against the former model, claiming Heather is a liar and a cheater who tried to fix the ending of "Celebrity Apprentice."
In the suit, Parapluie -- a publicity company -- claims Heather often made allegations about Paul McCartney to the firm, claiming he was a drunk, drug-abusing wife-beater. Sources connected with the publicity company tell TMZ ... they believe Heather made the abuse stories up.
The documents state, Heather told one of the publicists, "I could kill [Paul], last night, he tried to choke me. The marriage is over." Sources connected to the firm tell TMZ ... they believe Heather was lying.
According to the suit -- obtained by TMZ -- the publicity firm claims it got her a shot at being on "Celebrity Apprentice," but Mills would only accept the gig if Donald Trump guaranteed she would win. Trump denied her request.
The firm also says Heather lied when she said all of the money she made from "Dancing with the Stars" would go to charity. The firm claims only a portion went to charity.
The publicity company is suing for unpaid fees totaling $168,000.
Paul McCartney didn't exactly put his paws up and growl like a tiger -- but he still got his groove on at last night's Lady Gaga show at Madison Square Garden.
Even a Beatle likes to go Gaga every once in a while.
Paul McCartney needed a little help from his friends ... particularly the ones with jumper cables -- after his car engine died during a hiking trip in Santa Monica this weekend.
Paul and his GF Nancy Shevell didn't exactly wait around for AAA -- we're told the pair was immediately whisked away by his waiting security team, while one of his assistants set up the jump and drove the car home.
