Christie Brinkley's ex-husband claims the supermodel's
teary appearance on "
Today" was nothing more than a "cunning and shameless" attempt to "garner public sympathy by "dishonest means."
Peter Cook released a statement ... BLASTING Brinkley's interview with
Matt Lauer ... saying, “Christie was entirely dishonest about the circumstances surrounding the current court action which was precipitated by her and ... is doing further damage to our children."
In case you missed the "Today" show interview yesterday, an emotional Brinkley claimed Cook has been on a mission to destroy her life since they broke up.
Cook is clearly unhappy ... his statement continues, "I am also shocked by the blatant lies she told regarding our divorce proceedings of four years ago, including denying the indisputable fact that she fought for an open courtroom despite the warnings it would harm our children.”
"[Brinkley] will stop at nothing to continue the drama in our lives in order to harass me and keep herself relevant in the media."
Cook also claims Brinkley is simply still bitter from when he cheated on her with an 18-year-old woman during their marriage ... saying, "Clearly, Christie does not believe I was punished enough four years ago for my indiscretions in our marriage, but for the sake of our children I wish she would find a way to move on.”
Christie Brinkley and
Peter Cook are once again engaged in a bitter court battle with Brinkley asking a judge to fine Cook $140,000 for sending her abusive emails.
Brinkley claims Cook has violated a court order not to harass her, the
NY Daily News reports. The paper says a judge decided Cook would be fined $5,000 any time he violates the order ... which Brinkley says has happened a whopping 28 times.
Brinkley is also asking for an additional $32,000 in educational costs for their two children.
Cook reportedly has asked a judge for the same fines against Brinkley ... to the tune of $200,000.
The couple divorced back in 2008 and have been locked in bitter court battles ever since.
Whatever Christie wants, she doesn't get.

Brinkley tried getting a restraining order against Peter Cook last week, supposedly in an attempt to keep her kids from seeing his "20/20" interview -- no dice. The feuding couple then reportedly agreed Cook would drive the children to upstate for the weekend -- he flew 'em instead and she was pissed.
The kids allegedly were freaked to fly and cried to mama -- but Cook tells it a little differently.

In last night's "20/20" interview with Barbara Walters, Christie Brinkley's ex, Peter Cook, claimed he's not a womanizing, sex-crazed pervert. He's just drawn that way.
Cook went on to claim his motivations in the world's ugliest divorce trial were not financial. Comparing his sullied reputation to an "elephant in the room," Cook told Walters he just wants his kids to know the real him.
He must mean the guy who's the loving father and dedicated husband -- not that other guy who bathed daily in online porn and banged his 18-year-old assistant.
After court today, Christie Brinkley gave the public a look at life in 1 A.D. -- After Divorce -- showing off a diorama she made for son Jack's school project.

The supermodel told reporters that the outcome was "very bittersweet," adding she got everything she wanted -- custody and "decision-making." CB got full custody and land as far as the eye can see in the Hamptons -- but will have to fork over $2.1 million to her soon-to-be ex ball and chain.
Lawyers for Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook have come to a tentative settlement, but we're told that whatever they've agreed to could still come unglued when they get to court and show it to the judge.

Yesterday, as we reported, the ex-couple's lawyers were working OT to get a pact done, but couldn't do it during the day. We're told they worked "intensely" to make it happen at a L.I. hotel, and they will be presenting an agreement in court today.
Another source tells TMZ that Cook was "anxious" to get the custody fight over with before two detectives, who were scheduled to testify yesterday then were delayed until today, spilled the beans on what they'd dug up on him.
Story developing ...

Day four of the divorce cage match -- ding ding! Today a forensic psychiatrist testified that Christie Brinkley's jerk-off husband Peter Cook should not have custody of the kids. Brilliant analysis doctor!
Dr. Stephen Herman testified that pervy Peter's nasty habits were "narcissistic" and "self-destructive," but that doesn't mean he's a bad dad. Doc Herman did say, however, that Cook should not have custody of the couple's two kids.
Both are asking for full custody of the children.
Christie Brinkley's estranged husband Peter Cook sure likes his Internet porn -- spending about $3000 a month on the stuff.
Cook, who broke down crying after getting grilled on the stand today by the supermodel's lawyer, admitted he masturbated in front of a web cam and frequented escort, porn and swinger sites, all while married to Brinkley.
He also admitted that he had sex with then-teenager Diana Bianchi in his office while she worked for him. He testified he gave Bianchi nearly $300k hoping to keep their tryst on the down low. He said he would leave money for her under a rock outside his office and more cash behind a painting. He also said he bought her a $2000 watch and lingerie.
Attorneys for Brinkley have laid out a sordid story of Cook's history -- get a load of this stuff!
We were there just moments ago as Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook stormed a Long Island court to start their divorce trial.
The proceedings have started -- order in the court! -- and we hear it could get juicy on Day One because Diana Bianchi, aka the new L.I. Lolita, will be testifying.
A judge just ruled that the world will be able to hear more about Peter Cook's lil' Peter than he'd like.

Cook -- the estranged hubby of Christie Brinkley -- wanted their divorce battle to be closed to the media, but a judge ruled that the press could sit in the courtroom. Brinkley, for her part, is alleging that Petey liked Internet porn and tried to get her to go to swingers' clubs.
This is going to get goooood -- the case will start July 2. The pair split almost two years ago when it came out that Cook had an affair with an 18-year-old assistant.

Christie Brinkley has a message for Peter Cook: Not so fast.
Even though her estranged husband issued a very public apology yesterday, Brinkley's family says this morning that she's just not ready to forgive him.
