With the world going crazy for that other young adult love triangle movie, "Twilight" hunk Robert Pattinson sought some bearded, shirtless solace by paddle boarding in Malibu this weekend.

RPatz is enjoying his moment in the sun while he can.

"Twilight" stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were spotted out in L.A. Saturday ... which would TOTALLY be a big deal ... if they were in "Hunger Games."

Whether you are on Team Jacob with Taylor Lautner or Team Edward with Robert Pattinson, "Twilight" fans are hysterical over the release of "Breaking Dawn" this weekend.

Question is ...

Like a modern day Samson,  Robert Pattinson risked losing his power and has chopped off his signature Edward Cullen messy long locks.


The freshly sheared 25-year-old hung out on the set of his latest non "Twilight" film in Toronto earlier this morning.

Those sounds you hear are the screams and cries of millions of Team Edward fans.

Here's former actor turned 30 Seconds to Mars member Jared Leto,39, in Paris on Tuesday (left) -- and brooding "Twilight" vampire Robert Pattinson, 25, in some sort of promo shot (right).


One of them doesn't age.

We're just sayin'.

The elephant featured in the Reese Witherspoon/Robert Pattinson movie "Water for Elephants" was abused years before filming the movie -- this according to an animal rights group that claims it has video to prove it.



Animal Defenders International claims the video shows Tai, the elephant in the movie ... and several other elephants ... being trained with electric shock devices and bull hooks back in 2005.

ADI claims the trainers in the video are actually Tai's current owners -- a company called Have Trunk Will Travel.

The American Humane Association was on set during filming of "Water for Elephants" and says "no animals were harmed" ... and filmmakers used computer generated images for the scenes depicting animal abuse.

As for the 2005 video ... the American Humane Association says they are aware of it and will comment shortly.

Calls to Have Trunk Will Travel were not returned. 

UPDATE: A rep for AHA tells us, "We were not present when this video was shot in 2005. We are not clear about all of the content of this video."

The rep adds, "We hope with all our heart that the disturbing images on it are not what they appear to be.  We know Tai, have worked with Tai, care about Tai and we have never witnessed any mistreatment of Tai."

It was all for a honeymoon scene in the upcoming "Twilight" flick "Breaking Dawn."

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart finally had a moment to themselves the other day -- thanks to the actions of some quick thinking cops.


Sources involved in the situation tell us Rob and Kristen were on their way home from LAX airport earlier this week -- when they noticed several paparazzi weaving through traffic to keep up.

We're told ... the couple -- concerned for their safety -- ducked into a nearby police station, hoping the cops could help out.

We're told the officers figured out a way to sneak the "Twilight" stars out of the building ... and they were able to get back on the road ... without the paps on their tail.


 

Team Edward's Robert Pattinson, 24, and Team Jacob's Taylor Lautner, 18, put aside their differences and made nice at the "Eclipse" premiere in L.A. last night.



Question is ...

 

The "Eclipse" premiere isn't until Thursday night, but rabid "Twihards" were already camped out at the Nokia Plaza in downtown Los Angeles on Monday.



Who wouldn't wait over 72 hours to get a far and blurry pic of Robert Pattinson or Taylor Lautner for their Facebook?
