Cool thing happened in Hollywood last night ... when
Robin Williams dropped by a small comedy club on Sunset Blvd. unannounced ... and asked if he could perform.
It all went down at a place called Meltdown Comics -- which hosts a small comedy event every Wednesday night. We're told Robin walked in ... grabbed the mic ... and busted out a set for roughly an hour. Sources at the show tell us ... Robin KILLED IT.
It's not unusual for big time comics to drop in to small venues and secretly test out new material before a tour ... or a special. We called Robin to find out if that was case with last night's impromptu set ... so far, no word back.

Newlyweds
Robin Williams and his third wife
Susan Schneider enjoyed a public display of face sucking while on their honeymoon in Paris on Tuesday.
The couple were married in California this weekend.
Oscar winners
Robin Williams, 59, and
Daniel Day Lewis, 53, must share the same, er, stylist.

Robin showed off his bearded look in NYC this week (

Somebody definitely drank the other's milkshake.
Robin Williams just lost a $6 million lawsuit over the movie "
Cop Out" -- formerly titled "
A Couple of Dicks."
Williams had sued Gold Circle Films, claiming he was hired to star in the flick and was entitled to a $6 million fee whether the movie was made or not. Gold Circle pulled the plug on the movie and eventually gave up the rights.
Warner Bros. ended up producing the movie with
Bruce Willis and
Tracy Morgan.
Gold Circle claimed it never had a contract with Williams and never guaranteed him a "play or pay" fee. The judge agreed and tossed the case this morning on a summary judgment motion.
The lawsuit was filed by Williams' company, Fiat Risus, Inc.
The lawyers for Gold Circle,
Michael Holtz and
Marty Singer,
call the case a "meritless lawsuit" and tell TMZ they will ask the court for attorney's fees and court costs.
Williams rep could not be reached for comment.
Looking good after undergoing heart surgery back in March
, Robin Williams smacked a wet one on his new mystery lady friend in NYC on Monday.

Last year, Robin and his kid's former nanny-turned-wife of 20 years filed for divorce.
His heart will go on.
Robin Williams was looking and feeling great in NYC yesterday -- the first time we've seen him since he
underwent heart surgery back in March -- but he says there's one thing he loves that he still can't do ...
Dante Basco, a.k.a. "
Ru-fi-ooooh" in "
Hook," has come a long way from Neverland -- and yesterday, the 33-year-old mohawked leader of the Lost Boys filled us in on what he's been up to these days: Writing poetry!?

So much for never growing up...

TMZ has learned
Robin Williams underwent his highly publicized
heart surgery and is recovering at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.
Robin postponed his comedy tour at the beginning of this month after announcing he needed to have an aortic valve replacement.
UPDATE: Robin's rep just released this statement from his cardiothoracic surgeon:
"Mr. Williams' operation went extremely well and we expect him to make a full recovery. The 3 1/2 hour heart surgery was conducted to replace his aortic valve, repair his mitral valve, and correct his irregular heart beat.
His heart is strong and he will have a normal heart function in the coming weeks with no limitations on what he'll be able to do.
A couple of hours after surgery, he was entertaining the medical team and making us laugh."
While he waits to undergo surgery to replace his aortic valve,
Robin Williams enjoyed a peaceful walk along Miami Beach with a female friend this weekend.

The rehabbed 57-year-old was forced to suspend his one-man show tour after suffering shortness of breath last week.
No word when the heart surgery will take place.
Robin Williams has postponed the rest of his comedy tour to have heart surgery.
A statement just released by his reps says Robin will have "to undergo surgery for an aortic valve replacement" -- and said his tour will hopefully pick back up in the fall.
The release also included this statement from Williams:
"I'm so touched by everyone's support and well wishes. This tour has been amazing fun and I can't wait to get back out on the road after a little tune-up."
Zelda Williams had a pretty good reason why her famous pops wasn't out clubbing with her last night -- Robin's a recovering alcoholic.

Of course Zelda, who was in fact named after the video game, is only 19 -- so she shouldn't be drinkin' either.
