Whatever Oscar winner Russell Crowe is doing it appears to be working.

The 47-year-old looked a lot fitter and leaner in Sydney on Monday (left) than he did back in L.A. six months ago (right).

Eli Roth is outraged that a reporter for The Hollywood Reporter took what he says was a "joking exchange between friends" -- Eli and Russell Crowe -- and then attacked Crowe as being anti-Semitic.



It all started when Eli and Russell -- who often tease each other on Twitter -- were joking about circumcision.  Crowe tweeted, "I love my Jewish friends.  I love the apple and the honey and the funny little hats but stop cutting yr babies," adding, "I'll take attentive parenting over barbarism."

Apparently a reporter from The Hollywood Reporter saw the exchange and went after Russell with a headline that said he "insults Jews."

A firetruck slammed into Russell Crowe's ride during a movie shoot in Pittsburgh yesterday -- problem is, it wasn't in the script.

Crowe and co-star Elizabeth Banks were shooting a scene inside a van, which was parked near a Pittsburgh fire station when a firetruck suddenly pulled out of a nearby station and banged into the front of the van, according to ABC 4.

There were no injuries -- except to the van. The front end was reportedly knocked off.

Russell Crowe knows there is nothing like a last minute cancer stick before going for a healthy bike ride.

Ashlee Simpson hosted the second annual MTV Australian Music Awards in Sydney Wednesday. But she wasn't the only star to make the trek to the land down under-- Russell Crowe, Snoop Dogg, The Veronicas and James Blunt also made the trip.

The Veronicas and Ashlee both took home two awards.
